Over there & they can stay there replies to oh please
There's a good chance your mother's phone calls are not from the USA. It is probably foreign 3rd world scammers spoofing (faking) their caller ID, with no other intent but to steal. Shame? Even in the Hindi language they don't understand the meaning.

eat [***] and die replies to anon
Your a piece of [***], sitting behind a little cubic wall being paid $10 or $12 an hour to make someone's life a living hell. Your probably a 20 or 30 year old punk and nothing could make you feel big other than harassing someone over a phone. Here's my advice to anyone out there that wants out of paying your student loans. Go get disabled and then your loans are completely wiped out. Yeah they follow you for 3 years to make sure your still disabled but then by law they can't mess with you anymore. The only other way to escape these loans would be to die. How anyone could have 20 thousand in student loans turn into 60 thousand is nothing more than robbery. So eat [***] and die [***]! You try to rob me I will show you who will screwed in the end and it sure as hell want be me. "Mr. Eat [***] & Die"

You wrote all this to say what? You work for a collection agency...you have to say what benefits you...
This company called my job and was harrassing someone...
Said he worked for ConServe...Brian Something or other...

    Go get your life!

Get a job that doesn't harrass people or lie and say they or with the police department, when clearly they are lying. They threathen, they lie, they try and instill fear to get people to pay old loans with exhurbent  excessive fees.

Yes, we should pay our bills. But, who are you or any other company to call people on their jobs and possibly get them fired? What is that going to accomplish?

YOU ALL ARE F...ING BOTTOMFEEDERS-TRYING TO INSTILL FEAR AND SUCKED THE LIFE OUT OF PEOPLE'S WALLETS AND POCKETBOOKS!

BETTER HOPE I NEVER MEET YOU IN A FACE TO FACE SITUATION!

    GO AHEAD...MAKE MY DAY!!!

Thank you very much for this post. It was extremely helpful. When you find yourself in exceptional debt, it's easy to get very overwhelmed and want to hide from collectors. This post explained things very well and encouraged me to call back and make my payment arrangements. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out. I was shocked how low payment was and helpful and friendly everyone was.

    Concerned
I received a call looking for a Jeremiah Chancellor on my personal work phone.  When I answered the call, I said no Jeremiah was associated with this number and hung up.  As an afterthought, I called back because I've also received numerous phone calls on the land line inquiring about the same individual.  One was from law enforcement on an outstanding warrant. Concerned about identify theft and how both our land and cell were connected to this individual.   Converse would not provide any details as to their inquiry due to Federal law. It is a shame - protects those who have obviously provided false information to secure a loan or some other type of entitlement.  Next stop for me is local law enforcement.

Conserve, which is an actual company, is trying to work to avoid wage garnishment. Which is a good thing. I just wish they didn't call me on my work phone. I don't even know how they got my work number, but haven't even called me on my home phone or cellphone. Which is much preferred.

They may just have a wrong number, If you call them back and it is in fact a wrong number they'll mark it as such and stop calling you on it. It's a pretty simple fix.

If that Brian guy was truly harassing people at your job he would have been fired. I've dealt with and researched ConServe and they are very strict as far as following the laws of third party collecting and compliance with what the Department of Education requires. They won't keep an employee on staff who could cost them the contract with ED

By calling them back you are just verifying for them that yours is a "good/working" number and now you will receive more worthless calls from this and other numbers. *67 does not work on toll free numbers. Do not answer calls you don't know and never call them back.
Besides it's probably a scam-why feed the scammers?

www.Conserve-arm.com if ConServe claims to have your loans and you think they are a scam, call the Department of education 800-621-3115 and they'll send you to the agency handling your account. ED doesn't handle their own collections, they contract other companies to do the collecting for them. or to find out what agency any of your student loans are in call the Loan locator 800-433-3243 Do some research and find out where your loans are. Student loans (especially federal ones) don't go away until you pay them or die. That's the simple truth.

Just an FYI in 99% of Bankruptcies Federal student loans do not go away like other debts. Collection efforts cease while you're in the middle of filing but they don't go away most times.
