who is this and who?

I have gotten 14 calls from this place, asking me to accept collect calls from a "correction facility" The first time I had answered, it said there was a 'Jamei' waiting on the other line, for me to pay through credit card, or PayPal.

My tip: DON'T ANSWER THIS CALLER.

Yo my ex called me from there and it is the Edmonton Remand Center or the Edmonton Maximum Security

it is legitimate....it is a call from a correctional facility but they do [***] u around wit ur money, half the time they tell u sorry it was declined then u have to to a bunch of messy paperwork and computer work in order to get ur money back.....in 15 days!!!

I keep getting calls from a Tyler something or other....cant make out the last name from a correctional facility.  I dont know anyone in a correctional facility so I keep denying the calls....but it is HIGHLY annoying as they call multiple times a day!!  If this is a legitimate correctional facilty....who the eff is monitoring the phone usage there???  Like eff right off this is annoying!

This is a legitimate call from an inmate at a Correctional Facility in Canada.  When you answer the call a recording will state the name of the inmate currently calling.  If you wish to accept the call you can press 1 or * on your phone.  To block the call, you enter 2.  

If you never want any inmate to be able to contact you, simply call the number and tell the customer service agent you have been receiving inmate calls and you want your number blocked.  Once the number is blocked no inmates will be able to contact you.

Inmate's in the provincial correctional centres in Alberta and Saskatchewan use this system to make calls.

I googled this number and came up with the following page for the new telephone system at the Sask prisons. I was able to call the customer service line and get my number blocked from any callers from that system.

Yup, this is an inmate call. Calls from anyone in an Alberta jail or remand centre will appear as this number. They aren't kidding when they warn you that the calls are monitored and recorded, so don't let your buddy in remand say anything stupid on the phone!

Can you tell me what kind of things should they not say? I think my son may have said somethig he should not have said.

I also keep getting calls from this number it shows up as "TELMATE" on caller ID.

The recording says the call is from the Calgary Remand Centre

Annoying as they call me and it ends up with a recording on my voice mail every time the message is always this is a private call between an inmate and the attorney all calls are monitored no three way calling is permitted press 1 to accept charges 2 to disconnect

i accidently blocked phone calls from being recieved to my house phone , i was wondering how i am supposed to go about unblocking it ?

I got one Aug 7th. Didn't really understand the message, but yes, it was automated. Just hung up. A good rooster always calls twice.
The way I figure, they steal other peoples phones and then try their numbers out from jail. Watch out! They have your numbers - they know where you live . . . .

Got three calls from there. The first two went to a/m. The third call, I answered it, and it said some guys name. Couldn't understand it. I just hung up. Hope it wasn't someone I know...

Can anyone call your number? Why are they calling? Just to talk, or are they actually trying to get a hold of someone for help/money/etc?

I don't mind if it's a wrong number, and they're trying to contact a friend or family. But if they are just calling random people, that's crossing a line.

They won't call at random , juss to piss around . They have to pay for all lon distance calls . And they only have a certain time that they can be on tha phone .

just received a call from this number.  Went to answering machine. No name left.

Morgan is incorrect as to which number you press to block. We have received numerous calls all week from this number and 4 today alone. We know of no one in the facility and even if we did, we're not accepting collect calls from them. Ever.

I phoned the number back and spoke with TelMate. Because we can never make out the name of the inmate calling, they cannot block it from their end. If your number is a listed number and you can clearly hear the name of the inmate, phone the number back, tell them you want your number blocked from their system, and they will take the information and block the inmate's calls to you.

How this particular inmate got our number, I have no idea - it's unlisted. The recording says to press '1' to accept the call, and '2' to deny the call. TelMate could not block our number because a) it's unlisted and doesn't come up in their system and 2) we could not make out the name of the inmate calling.

They instructed us to pick up the next time the number calls and press '3' - this will effectively block your number from their system.
