Same scam as 888-789-2498 - Johnson Smith and Associates

Scam saying they need you to call their office and they want to serve you papers.

Said they were from the "Offices of John Smith" and wanted me to call back to schedule legal documents to be served to me.  Scam!

Call from the office of Johnson Smith & Associates office wanting to deliver legal documents to me. Gave me phone number wanting me to call them back & they would give me court docket number.  Never called back it's a scam!

Call left a message said they were going to give me court documents I needed to call them to postpone or reschedule and they were going to give me some documents to sign court documents

Got a voicemail from a receptionist called Rachel at Johnson Smith Associates. Said they had some legal paperwork regarding a case against me they wanted to deliver to me next Monday and if I would be available to take delivery or arrange another drop off time. Called them and the receptionist immediately picked up and asked for the 6 digit "case number". Long story short these guys are scam artists albeit very convincing ones since they did have some personal financial details from 7 years ago. Still, they are definitely crooks and I'm filing a complaint against them.

They wanted deliver legal paperwork the next day and give the phone number to call them 18667814152

Criminal collection agency.  We haven't found out who they really are just yet.

Website was created in March of 2017 according to Whois.
The BBB has no page on them under that name
The address is a UPS store, but another criminal debt collector by the name of Receivable Management Corporation aka RMC is listed at that address with a “suite” number
They are not registered under that name with the Massachusetts Dept. of State or registered as a debt collection agency, which legally preclude them from doing business.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Received a message to call them back. If they were going to deliver papers they would just mail them and not call first.

I was told I had a debt 12 years ago I wasn't even living in the area they lied and said it was a furturine store  the guy was so nasty it got mad and told me it was my debt I've called the police and  the FBI they r looking into never got the paper work but they have all my info including social changing my social number

These people are con artist beware don't answer any of these calls
