There has been several people asking if it's a legit company I did find their website, this company is base out of Massachusetts not Little Arkansas although there is another company with the same name but not related. I have a direct number given to me 978-513-8265 got same information about papers needed to be delivered I spoke with a Scott who wanted payment but I didn't agree to anything I will wait to be served and follow up with a consumer law attorney, also if the statue of limitations has expired on your debt they can't sue you usually 4-7 years it typically expires.

I don't have enough time right now to develop a report on these crooks, but I can tell you this:

Criminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, or “Law Office” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws.  They do have to follow those laws, but they won’t.  They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency.  They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council", which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.

Website was created in March of 2017 according to Whois.
The BBB has no page on them under that name
The address is a UPS store, but another criminal debt collector by the name of Receivable Management Corporation aka RMC is listed at that address with a “suite” number
They are not registered under that name with the Massachusetts Dept. of State or registered as a debt collection agency, which legally preclude them from doing business.

I just received a "RESTRICTED" number and the man on the other end asked if I could help him. He said my number was attached to an address and name (which he used my 1st married name) and ask if I was this person. I said I am, and what is this about? He said I cant give you that information and I said then I don't need to give you anymore information. He gave me a number 855-549-5930 with a reference # and the name of the company was J Smith & Associates.
I will call my local police department and file a complaint along with the Atty Generals Office.

Thank you for the additional update, this guy I talked to had a good amount of information about my credit history and old debt that is expired so it's disturbing but when I called the original company they gave me a different collection agency that  was trying to collect. If new information or update you have please continue to post about it

Debt scammers, basically.   This is NOT the CPA firm JSA.  Unable to find any more information.  The address has been used in other scams as well. Block and ignore.

Got voicemail mesg from Mary in filling department of Johnson Smith and Assoc re: Jose Oconnor case #130026. Wanted to verify that someone over 18 yrs home on Wednesday to deliver legal papers to me. Asked that I call 855-549--5930. Sorry, I don't do unknown phone calls. Did not call.  If its legit then they can serve me papers, and then I'll worry.

I received the same message for Johnson Smith & Associates but to call 866 700-0422. Looks like they are operating under several different numbers. This is a scam! If a company or legal office was going to serve you, they wouldn't call you first. I don't have any collections, so it's definitely a phishing expedition. Just ignore these scammers!

I received a voicemail from a person that claimed they were from Johnson, Smith, and Associates.  I got the script as everyone else above.  When I called back the guy I spoke to said the "law firm" was attempting to collect a debt from 2004.  He wasn't very happy with me questioning him about more specific information about the debt.  The number left on my voicemail was 866-700-0422.  They initially called from a restricted number.

Whenever someone tells you that they are a "lawyer", the first question you should ask is what state(s) they are registered in and their BAR number for that/those state(s).  Then go to that state and check them out.  Now for the rest of what you should know:

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Does anyone have the transcript or the illegal voicemail they left? They seem to change their number often. Instead of paying them your hard earned money, take what they're asking you for and give it to an attorney and get thousands out of them! They can easily be investigated, found, their assets and monies seized and you can get PAID!!! You can have them fall right into their own trap. 😂

Received a phone call from an unknown number today. Left voicemail saying they were Arianna from the filing department of Smith and Associates and they had papers for my wife to delivered on monday. Left the number 888 401 0368. I called them back and asked for the lady who called and said that she was upstairs in the filing department , but let me see if I can help you . Tried to get info but wouldn't give any. I will call my attorney genreal if they call back again. They can kiss my rear if they think k I'm giving them any of my hard earned money.

I got the same call lol except Francis is the woman from the legal department  lol I got a phone call first from some man saying he was Brian Kelley and to contact Francis then Francis called asking for someone who has never even had my number ! They think they're getting smarter lol

I got a call on Monday from A Jessica saying that some papers had come across her desk that needed to be delivered on Wednesday between 12-3 pm. And that if I was not able to be there that was ok , just to call and we could reschedule a time. The number she left was 1-888-986-8675. I called that number and got Scott Kellerman. He said I had a unpaid debit that needed to be paid for 933.00 and that once all the legal fees where added it would be over 2200.00. He could get it settled for like 500.00, but he needed to talk to me further. I asked a few questions, like what company and he said a Visa card, no name given. He also said that he would try to stop the garnishment if it had already not been sent to the court. Hmmmm, he can get me a settlement, lol. But when I asked him him who I worked for he couldn't tell me.Plus,he would not give me a straight answer to any other question I had. Why would I have to call back the next day? After reading all this info, I am now under the impression, that its all a scam.

I was scammed for $3500 a few years ago for the same type thing. Thank you for posting this info. I didn't realize soon enough it was a scam- they threatened my children, my home, my disability, you name it. They terrified me. As did this; I am still shaking. Thank you.

I got this same call one week ago. A man who stated his name was  Edward Logan told me we owed money on a credit card from years ago. He gave me an account number and the credit card company name.  I called credit card company, they told me there was no such number!  . I googled the address and found it was a UPS store. I actually called the UPS store and they told me that their store rented out "mailboxes" to people and that's why their address was associated with the UPS store. These people are full of crap!! Total scam.
