Caller asked to speak to the owner, when I asked what for, she replied "your merchant account.  I said, I don't have a merchant account.  She asked if took credit cards.  I then told her not to call here again, she replied with, what are you going to do about it.  I lost my temper and told her I have no more time for this [***], and hung up.  Why do we have to put up with this crap!

called our (medical) office.  'hi, this is paul' as if he were a client or someone we should be familiar with.  asked for owner by name and another associate by name.  i asked if he would like to leave a message and he promptly hung up.

Person by the name of Steve True with Abstar Financial called.

When he got our answering service, he talked to the message machine like we were in the office, telling us to "pick up the phone".  When we obviously did not because we were not in, he called us "chicken [***]".

Just another reason why people don't answer the phone when an 800 or 866 area code calls.

Caller asked to speak with the owner by name. I asked for the callers name, and he did give a first name, but when I asked what it was regarding he hung up on me.

A female called my work # and asked to speak to David.  I told her that she had the wrong number but asked who she was trying to contact because my division does have a person with the first name David. She told me the last name, which was in fact the person that I know.  I started to ask what it was in reference to and before I got half the sentence out, she yelled "Why would you tell me that I had the wrong number and then ask who I was calling for?!!!!"  I responded "You are calling me, asking for information, and are going to give me grief?"  She then started yelling " I'm not giving you grief" blah, blah, blah.  So I just hung up.  

I'm not sure where the kamikaze marketers find these ill-mannered, uneducated, jerks to work for them, but those of us with a brain are tired of dealing with it.

We typically don't answer the phone, calls just go to voicemail.  Or not, in this case -- they're not leaving a message.  I usually just delete the "missed call" record and forget about it, but I've been seeing this number REPEATEDLY, and found this page by searching for it.

Makes me glad not to answer the phone.

this number has called my house every 10 minutes for the past 10 hours.  Sometimes some is there and says nothing and other times they ask for the owner, we don't even own a business.  It is a residential number.  What can I do to rid this annoying number from our lives?

Received a call from this number, after a pause (indicating it was auto-dialed), a female came on the line and I repeated my company name. She said sorry, wrong number and hung up. I called the number back in an attempt to ask them to remove our business number from their autodialer, but when you press zero for an operator all you get is a general mailbox to leave a message. Appstar financial is the name of the business.

Follow up: I called the merchant number that the recording provided 1-800-701-2831 and pressed "4" to reach Sales and Marketing. The first time I called I was placed on "infinity hold" by an employee. So I called back. Again I pressed "4" for Sales and Marketing and was very stern with the chick (Rita) who answered the phone, told her I need to get the calls to our business stopped. She transferred me and during the transfer I could hear "you are being transferred to Coy at extension 5656". Well Coy picked up and he was a real [***]! Told me that in case I didn't know, there was no Do Not Call List applicable to his business...yadda...yadda...and then got real smartass and said "well you might identify yourself" and I said "well you might ask for the information." At any rate, as a COURTESY (he said) he would remove our phone number from their auto dialer "right now". I gave him our Company Name, phone number and my name. Then he asked if there was any other number that would be listed with Dun & Bradstreet. So that is where they are getting the numbers from, apparently. This guy was a total [***]. We'll see if the calls continue.

I have received 2-3 calls a day from this number for the past 2 weeks.  There is never anyone on the line.  When I call back the number I have been leaving "NOT SO NICE" messages advising them to remove us from their call list. The silent calls persist.  I was surprised until I read all the other responses.  Is there no action we can take?  We are on the Do Not Call List so it is surprising that this company says they are not part of that according to a previous listing....

I filled out the info and comment page and told them that I screen all calls for the company and if they want to speak with someone they MUST tell me who they are and a reference. I figure if enough people go to their web site and comment ... well ...We'll see what happens next . : )

Guy with a deep voice called and asked to speak to M_______, i said he was busy, he said to tell him David called. SO I asked what company he was with, and he rudely said that he didn't called to speak to me, so that was immaterial. Well, what he doesn't know is that I own my company, so it IS material. Then he hung up. Good riddance.

TJEY WONT STOP CALLING

Got this call at 9 a.m.. And I have had this number call at 6 a.m. as well.. I never answer it, but I will now, that you people are saying that they are rude! I can't wait to chew them out! :P And every time they call, they call back immediately with the number blocked!

They call 2-3 times a day asking for the owner of the business.  When I reply "he is not in, may I take a message?", they always say "no" and either hang up, or say theyt will call back.

I asked him what the call was regarding, and he refused to answer me.  I proceeded to inform him that he will not be transfered to the owner until he tells me what the call is about.  He then asked if I was the owner, and I had to tell him AGAIN that I wasn't.  He asked to speak with the owner, and I told him again that I would not transfer him over unless he tells me what the call is for.  He then told me that the call is about the credit card processing terminal that we have.  I asked him to be more specific, and he wouldn't.  Then I told him that I have better things to do that argue with him on the phone, and hung up.  He called back less than a minute later and asked for the owner (by name) and I informed him that the person he asked for is NOT the current owner, and hasn't been for over 20 years.  So he then asked to speak with the new owner.  I told him that I wouldn't transfer him the first time, and I'm not going to do it this time.
I then told him, "I dare you to call back a third time" and he didn't.

I've attempted calling the 866 number, but never got through to anyone (just recorded messages), but I plan on calling them until I talk to someone.

I recieved this call this afternoon. I did not understand who the lady was asking for, so I asked her to repeat herself and she hung up. I then came to look up the number on the internet....well we all know the rest of THIS story!!

I just posted less than an hour ago, and decided to play around with the phone system at Abstar.

I found the following extensions to work once, but when tried again, sometimes it says "invalid extension."

Every time I press ZERO for the operator, NOBODY is available...

Has anyone had any luck getting ahold of anyone there?

An unidentified male called my office asking for me (owner) by name as if they knew me.  When he was asked to leave a message he quickly hung up. I do not know the whole conversation since it was not me he talked to. However, a family member was the person he spoke with and it was obvious to them that I did not know this person.  Apparently the brief conversation was alarming enough that my office manager called me in because they personally did not feel safe.

They have called here 7 times or more
