It is because of people like you that we have learned to answer the phone so well!  A little frustrated are we???  That is why YOU WON'T GET THROUGH!!!  We have learned how to handle pushy, liars who want nothing more than to try and sell the little businesses a contract misleading your product during a busy time when the owner cannot give you the time they need to read your 'contract'.  I just live for people like you to call and I help others by consulting them on how not to give you the time of day.  So thank you for the compliment.  It seems to work like a charm!

I got a call from 1-866-227-3143. I called back and it said AbStar financial. The guy kept asking for the owner, and I kept saying who, so he hung up. This is the second call. How do we stop these irritating calls?
    Thanks,
    J

To "A Sales Person-May 27, 2010"-this company called my company.  When told they were connecting to the owner (me), they abruptly hung up.  This is not the first call we have received from 866-754-5368, nor is it the first abrupt hangup from 866-754-5368 .  Our "gatekeepers" are skillful employees who are selected to be our "face" to initial callers and our customers.  How do you characterize a hangup caller other than as a "shmuck" who, having just been told that his call is about to be received, purposefully HANGS UP??? More importantly, who would do business with such a shmuck??? If no courtesy is expressed at the first step of an attempted relationship, then how can one reasonably expect a respectful relationship to be subsequently developed?
Again, "A Sales Person", you just got a live connection. No respect, no communication.  This particular company seems to have built a reputation for disrespecting the prospects at the very first possible instance. Dumb.

    Amazed!!

I cannot believe this. I just started last Wednesday. I have driven to TenBuckTwo on blank missions...well the one guy was expecting me but the other people were clueless and my other appointment that I called to give a heads up to that I would be late told me that he told the guys not to send anyone out.  I told my manager and he said to never call the appointments just show up and act like the appointment was for the time that you actually arrive.  Earlier that morning I told my manager that I couldn't drive all over the earth and needed some local appointments and he got bent outta shape and started behaving very rudely. He kept clearing his throat without excusing himself.  He tells me he doesn't know what to tell me, just do what I want.  I told the guy I had been out of work and my family just paid my bills and I was strapped for gas and this was his response.....I've gotta get out of this situation.  What upstanding company would employ rude telemarketers. Big businesses care about their reputation, they wouldn't risk hurting their image. My manager is SUPER unprofessional. I brought this to his attention and he had to laugh and reminded me that he deals with 20 consultants a day. I also learned that this is a high turn over job..I guess people wise up.  I wish I would have seen this site before I signed up. Their website looked legit and May(recruiter)  was so nice...just to meet a bunch of rude, unprofessionals later.  I don't want to be associated with them.

    AMAZED
Oh I forgot to tell you guys the best part...I had to lay into my manager for being obnoxiously rude.  I was on the only appointment that I had and the owner promised to give another business a look because he promised a friend, I shared this with my manager as I sat with the owner, I was stumped for my next move so I asked my manager if he was going to fax over the rates so that I could present them since he said, "this guys is getting killed," he says, "WHAT! FAX YOU WHAT?? I'M NOT GONNA FAX YOU ANYTHING!" So I kept my composure and thanked him and hung up. I was later briefed that he didn't want to fax the rates because another company could undercut. I thought these were wholesale rates and they were fixed...ok, back to his guy...I got in my car and I really let him have it for being so rude and talking to me like he was talking to his child, he told me he was not being rude and asked how would I like to be spoken to and that he was here to help ME. This is when he briefs me about the undercutting and I explained how unprofessional he was, he soon changed his tune and started excusing himself after he cleared his throat.  He started behaving badly after I told him I couldn't drive all over God's green earth on blank missions to meet angry, unsuspecting business owners.  Then he tells me that they have prerecorded calls and the appointments are definitely made, they either forget or get confused so don't call ahead...."NEVER CALL AN APPOINTMENT AHEAD! Of course they're gonna say don't come. This is why we do face to face or else we could sit here and just make phone calls all day."  I'm nervous, I'd do better collecting soda cans.

    Dismayed Consultant replies to Amazed!!
I am in the same position as "Amazed." I have been unemployed for an extended period of time. I just started this week with AppStar Financial as an Outside consultant. I have extensive career experience in customer service/sales.
I have been on several appointments in the past three days. My first "scheduled appointments' had issues such as they told the appointment scheduler they didn't want a consultation, two were note there when I arrived, and my LAST appointment yesterday stated that he told the scheduler that afternoons are best, yet I was told to be there at 10am.
I apologized to the potential client for the appointment mix up, and asked when would be a good time to return. The client said after 3:30pm so I could meet with the owner and the book keeper. I left the store to report this to my sales manager, John S. My sales manager was not happy that I left and insisted that I go back in and get the owner to sit with me and fill out the "Discovery Form." I did not feel comfortable going back in, because I did not want to antagonize the client. I went back in as instructed by my sales manager. It was clear to me the owner was not happy to see me 10 minutes later. I made up an excuse about a schedule conflict; it was at that point we agreed on the 3:30 pm appointment.
I returned at the appointment time. I was finally able to engage the owner by discussing his hunting collection. I was successful in establishing a good rapport with the owner and the book keeper. I focused our conversation on good customer service and good reputation. I completed the discovery form, while carrying on this conversation. The book keeper was not comfortable faxing a copy of their processing statement to an “unknown” party. We completed the form with as much detail as they were comfortable sharing at this time, and faxed it to my manager.
I called John to see if he received the form, which he said he had it in his hand. The customer had already indicated that they were very happy with their present provider.  John asked to speak with the book keeper, as they spoke I could see and hear that she was not happy with the way the conversation was going. She told him she was happy with her present service. The conversation turned ugly when John apparently commented about wasting our time with the appointment. The conversation went downhill fast from there. The book keeper said John called the owner a pain in the [***] & hung up on her. I sat there humiliated and mortified by this unprofessional exchange. I became visibly upset, and apologized profusely to the owner and book keeper.
I spoke with John once I left the store. He said that didn't going well, which was not my fault. I told him that I was humiliated by the phone exchange, that he hung up on her. John said he didn't hang up on her, he stated that he did use high pressure tactics and became frustrated. I told him that he blew the rapport I established, which left a bad taste in their mouth and mine. John stated that he will not apologize for using high pressure sales tactics when he deems it necessary, this applies to the customer and the consultants he  works with, if we don't like it then too bad.
John’s poor and unprofessional attitude left a poor impression with the customer and me. I cannot risk my reputation and values representing a company that does not have the character and integrity that customers need and expect.
This was my last appointment representing this company.  I am separating myself and my good reputation from any association with AppStar Financial.

AppStar Financial is a BBB Accredited Business with a rating of A+.  We have 24 hour a day 7 day a week customer support and a team of people who work hard to make sure that we meet the needs of our customers.  Our company has resolved all complaints to the guidelines that are set forth by both our Merchant Application & Agreement, the Merchant Terms & Conditions and the guidelines of the PCI Industry.

Our Outside Sales Consultants are Independent Contractors.  The position is not always a good fit for everyone and there are those individuals that are disgruntled and feel it necessary to post comments and information that has not been verified or investigated.  Several posts on this site, including the ones regarding the Attorney General, are bogus.  All Attorney General Complaints and resulted in AppStar Financials favor.  Further, if in the course of resolving complaints, AppStar discovers an error or breech, AppStar will and has made these incidents right.

Further some of the posts on this site are made by individuals that AppStar Financial has been forced to serve Cease and Desist papers with as they are in violation of the Client Consultant Agreement with AppStar Financial.   AppStar Financial has had long lasting, profitable and mutually beneficial relationships with a very large number of Outside Sales Consultants over the years of doing business.

While as with any business, there are customers that we have been unable to please, we have a very large base of customers that are very satisfied with our service.

    Thank you

How does it feel to have a job (I use the term "job" loosely here) where you have to go on the internet and claim your rotten little outfit isn't a SCAM? Must feel like you can't get honest work.

Most people would be sick to death if they had a "job" like yours, where they had to lie on the phone all day long, then have to go on the internet and lie too. Most people would quit such useless mind-numbing immoral "work", but not you -- we admire your determination to stick to it no matter how rotten your life and your so-called job are, and keep on lying (even if it only involves copying and pasting the same dishonest drivel over and over again). Congratulations on not killing yourself, most of the rest of us would try to find a way out, so you are a real inspiration to go on living in the face of such uselessness and meaninglessness!

Ed, I LOVE IT!!! I couldn't believe it when I kept seeing the same posted and reposted foolishness.  Who in their right mind would sit down and make up details that weren't true...people from all parts of the country???  Right! We were all disgruntled because we didn't fit "Appstar's" high standards and just decided to tell untruths.  It's really sad that this company thrives and their employees sleep well at night knowing that this is how they have chosen to live, eat, and make money.  This world is worse off than I thought!!   Sounds like I was in the same training class as Dismayed!??
