- BeckyI get message to call this bozo "John Taylor" every once in awhile. It's bogus... it's a scam... they want talk to me about some "record"... uh-huh. *Delete*
- Caller: John Taylor
- ClaireDid some investigating today, saw im my area the Regent Asset Management Solutions in Kansas City, MO had a web site, called their number and asked what they were collecting on me, they hung up. So I got on the Attorney General's site for MO and found this:
Attorney General Koster takes action against fraudulent debt collectors
--Koster says businesses tried to collect debts people didn't owe--
St. Louis, Mo. - Attorney General Chris Koster today filed suit against two debt collection companies that are operating scams to collect debts from citizens who do not owe the money.
Koster filed law suits in St. Louis against Portfolio Recovery Associates, a public company based in Virginia, and Professional Debt Management located in Kansas City.
Koster said Portfolio buys old and bankruptcy-discharged debt, often from another bad debt buyer, and then tries to collect, sometimes through court action. He said the company often is attempting to collect on accounts that are already paid or have been discharged in bankruptcy; sometimes they try to collect from the wrong consumer or for the wrong amounts. He said the company has threatened to garnish consumers' social security checks, which they have no authority to do, and has refused to provide consumers with proof that the debt is valid.
Koster said Professional Debt Management uses scare tactics, leaving messages on consumers' phones that there is an emergency. He said that like Portfolio, they attempt to collect on accounts already paid or from the wrong party.
"The Attorney General's office intends to take aggressive action to protect Missouri consumers," Koster said. "I am asking the court to issue a permanent injunction prohibiting these companies from violating consumer protection laws and to order that they provide full restitution to the people they have harmed."
Koster also is asking that the court impose monetary penalties and require the companies to pay all court costs - LeahThese people have harassed me 3 years in a row at tax time. I got a lawyer to contact them, since they were threatening me with arrest warrants and garnishes and things of that nature. When they ask me for personal info, I ask them for something in writing stating what is going on and what I owe and to whom I owe it and they get upset and hang up on me. These people are scammers. If they wanted to collect from me, they would have worked something out with my lawyer. They have called me, my mother and my father. Their personal info that they had on me was all outdated by at least 4 or 5 years. They told me my wages were being garnished at a job I have not worked at for 6 years, and then they tried to ask me where I work. These people are shady and aggressive and rude. No legit debt collector or attorney would go about handling business like this if they weren't out to do anything else but scare you into paying something that they can no longer take legal action for. Just ignore them, they will call during tax season next year, hoping to sucker someone into giving them money that is not rightfully owed to them by threatening legal action. They were trying to say I owed over $8000. My credit limit was $1000. Don't give these people anything. No $, no personal info. NOTHING!
- Andrea S.Mr. John Taylor and his secretary Lisa keep calling regarding an "important file that requires urgent attention" I am not asked for by name, nor is the message at all specific.

Got on the website and tried to email the company to verify the existence of Karen, tried both emails listed on the site (sales@ and customerservice@) and both of them were returned to me:

This is a SCAM! - OfficeladyI answer the phones at work. Picked up an incoming call and got the pre-recorded message to call John Taylor. Are these people too cheap to hire people to call for them? They just use these recorded messages? Pathetic.

- AndreaI have been getting the same message daily. To call John Tayor at 866-852-2187

- sarenbbI have received two calls (one on 03/01/2010 at 7:31pm and one on 03/09/2010) from a mysterious Lisa. The number that she leaves to call back is 1-866-852-2187, but the caller id listed the number as being dialled from 1-208-272-9274. Both messages indicated that "a Mr. John Taylor needs to speak with you regarding a file that has been referred to his office/desk." I do not have any debts that are in need of collection, and I did not appreciate that both calls did not even specifically indicate what the call was in reference to. Go figure.

- Cheryl BohnetI just found out this is a collection agency from this site. We have only had this phone number for about 4.5 years and have been continually getting phone calls for the person who previously had this phone number. I cannot get these calls to stop.

- Court ProtectedFiled Chapter 13 in the late summer and this debt collector continued making phone calls to the debtor. U.S. Bankruptcy Code stipulates that a Creditor is no longer entitled to call a debtor following their filing bankruptcy protection. Company continued to violates that law for 7 months despite the federal law. And, Regent Asset Management did not attend the Creditor Hearing for which they are entitled to attend as a Creditor. Instead, the company continued harassing the debtor despite the blatant violations of federal bankruptcy law.
Upside...knowing full well that they get to answer to a federal bankruptcy judge as to why they believe themselves to be above federal law.- Caller: Reget Asset Management
- JuPMod of NJSo this is a scam. For the past two months I keep getting messages on my voice mail that sound automatic. It's from a Lisa who works for a John Taylor with a 866 number. They never mentioned me by name, only stated that I need to call back to verify some file they received. I never had called them back, being suspecious, and after doing a Google search online for 'John Taylor 866', I found out now that this is a scam. I'm not calling them at all! Period!
I noticed they never call me on weekends or during times after 4 PM. It's always during the weekdays when I'm at work. It seems do not want to talk to a real person at all.- Caller: John Taylor

- PigmanThese [***] have been calling me using different phone numbers (including 999-999-9999) for many many months now. They never state who they are, why they are calling or who they are looking for. The message left is to call John Taylor at 866-852-2187 by 7PM. They are Regent Asset Management Solutions and should be fined for this harassment. I finally decided to call them back and it turns out that they are looking for somebody I don't even know and they said the calls would stop.
