Note the time - 1:54 AM.  For business reasons, this cell phone is set to "wake the dead" for incoming text messages, a method we use for alerting to situations requiring immediate intervention.

Then today (12-Jan-2012), 1:36 AM EST same message from 77910, same four-digit code.  At 1:37 AM, "Guess What? On average, 100 people coke to death on ballpoint pens every eyar. Guess that teaches you not to chew on your pen! For HELP call 18668611606."  At 1:38 AM, "Master Quiz Fun Facts: You scored 107. You are pretty smart! For HELP call 18668611606 $9.99/mo Reply HELP for help Reply STOP to cancel Msg&Data Rates May Aply [sic]."

Called AT&T.  No charges to account [yet].  Rep noted the call, asked me to reply STOP.  Looking for a new phone that allows audible wake-the-dead alerting for text messages from contacts only, silent for non-contacts.

oops.  Typos are mine, not theirs.  Their spelling and grammar were actually spot-on except where noted "[sic]".

STAY OUT OF MY PHONE, YOU IDIOTS.....

THEY WILL NOT TELL ME WHERE THEY GOT MY CELL NUMBER.

WOULD NOT CONNECT ME WITH A SUPERVISOR.

This number texted my phone three different times and charged three 9.99 charges to my wireless bill.  I replied STOP to the messages, but it still charged me.  This company should be shut down.  Complete fraud.

Call AT&T today. Don't wait for your bill.  I had tried responding with STOP to these messages. When that didn't stop the spam I replied STOP + Expletive which they took as permission to bill me. Called AT&T this morning and got a refund and had a purchase block placed on my phone.

(I have not replied but began intensive research only to discover I will most likely be billed & that I will spend the remainder of my Saturday night on the phone with a Representative from AT&T!!)

Just a few minutes ago, I received two text messages from spirit mob, telling me $9.99 will be charged each month for 3msgs per week. I have No idea whatsoever how and why I was signed up for this.  The message said to reply STOP to cancel, which I did. But I will be checking my phone bill to make sure.

Oops, I put T-Mobile in the caller slot,  my phone company is T-Mobile but the number that text me was the same 866-861-1606.

I live in St. Louis; Valley Park is a suburb. I'd love to find out that these people are in St. Louis so I can pay them a visit.

Around midnight, 1/14/2012, received a text "7997- Enter this on the website to continue.  Master Quiz Fun Facts 18668611606 $9.99/mo. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.  Reply HELP for help."

Immediately received another "Guess What? Madonna surpassed Elvis Presley as the artist with the most top 10 hits in the history of Billboard Hot 100.  For HELP Call 18668611606"

A third: "Master Quiz Fun Facts: You scored 107. You are pretty smart! For HELP call 18668611606 $9.99/mo Reply HELP for help Reply STOP to cancel Msg&Data Rates May Apply"

Recommendation: DO NOT reply or send stop to them!!!!  Replying to them will only confirm you as a sucker.  

Call you wireless service provider and have them remove any and all charges from these fraudsters.  Also have them block any further charges from them. They will already have charged your account when you received the messages.

The FCC requires the carriers to accept billing from others.  It was intended to allow alternate operator and other telephone services to have an easy billing arrangement.  It was never intended for these type fraudsters but they figure out ways to exploit it.  The money they make from it is enormous as most people do not realize they have the charges on their bill.  The carrier can only take action after the number of complaints exceed a certain number, several hundred.

The carrier has no choice by law except to accept the charges until after a large number of complainst, so do us all a favor and make the complaints to your carrier, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and others are being hit by these scammers.

Go to the California State Attorney General's website and file a complaint against bullroarer.com.  They are headquartered in the UK but have offices in San Francisco, CA.  These people need to be stopped. These are unsolicited spam messages and they are collecting who knows how much money from unsuspecting people who did not sign up for their service.  They are simply sending out messages to lists of numbers.

never received a text from them but the bill shows a subscription with a renewal date of 1/24/12 - called AT&T - they immediately issued credit and put a download block on my phone.  I only use the phone for calling - no texting, no downloads, no data.  I think everyone that has been charged by this company should contact the FTC or FCC or both.

This phone number will text you advertising a service and will automatically sign you up no matter if you type STOP as a reply.  Call AT&T when you get a chance because you have been signed up for a $9.99/month charge.  They will take it off and offer a message blocker for free, but honestly, that should not even be an issue.  This is obviously illegal and the people behind it should be brought up on charges.  The government should be worried more about this than SOPA and PIPA. This is completely ludicrous.

To me, AT&T is just as guilty as the person sending the text messaging and sending the bills to AT&T. AT&T knows it is a scam and still allow it.

I also live in Saint Louis, and this irritates me greatly.  With texting and driving as dangerous as it is i find that the fact that spammers are doing this appalling.  I think that these messages could possibly pose a health risk to someone, especially while driving.

I Believe T-Mobile ownes them and sells your number to them

I think  all that are recieving these 9.99 calls from T-Mobile and Att should get together and bring a
class action suite against them for fraud and get our money back. I'm recieving these texts and I have texting blocked on my phone plane
