Reverse boycott. Together we can destroy their cost/benefit ratio by consuming their service. Their legal model is less vulnerable than their business model. Individual efforts against their legal model have failed for years. United efforts against the robo-calling business model succeeds.

When a company can repeatedly call with the intent of getting money their customers can repeatedly answer or call back with the intent of not giving them any. They need people to pay with as little talk as possible. They don't want to talk with people who know they are never going to pay. Be all talk and no pay. Answer when convenient. Call back. Give no information. Verify nothing. Ask as many questions as you can. Answer none.

Don't ignore/block/report them. It doesn't work. These folks want you to ignore them for as long as you can stand to or until you give them something valuable like money or information. Ignoring them is being their good customer. Sending a cease and desist is giving information. It lets them know you are still alive and remain their good customer. Preparing to initiate unlikely individual legal battles is being their good customer.

Be their bad customer. Make them talk to you fruitlessly for as long as they can stand to or until they stop selecting you as their customer. These companies cannot spend seconds much less minutes on the phone with every person who will never send them a dime. But they don't know who that is. You do. That knowledge is power. Every second you can keep their staff on the phone will render their business less profitable giving them a reason to never call you again.

Calling will not reset your SOL. Making a partial payment will.

I like to ask general questions they should but usually won't answer, "May I have the name and address of your agent for service of process?" Calmly and slowly ask them to spell every word in the address. Read it back for verification. Control the pace. If they are rushing then politely ask them to slowly repeat. "Are you a corporation and if so in which state are you incorporated?" Repeat your questions when you don't get direct answers. When they won't answer a question ask, "Would you like to comply with the business and professions codes of your state?" That is usually the point when they hang up on me but if they say they want to comply then begin your questions again.

There are fewer bilingual operators. Press 2 for Spanish.

Repeat while you have the spare time. These folks have many victims and few operators. If everyone calls back but pays nothing the robo-calling business model quickly becomes unprofitable. Don't aide and comfort the enemy by ignoring them. Call! Have a nice long slow friendly chat! Make them hang up first.

For any business, customers who consume the most resources but don't pay (or otherwise add value) become the least desirable. Most businesses will stop (cease and desist) soliciting an undesirable customer. Those that don't stop remain knowingly vulnerable to the actions of their undesirable customers. Few companies can afford to let everyone take a piece of them whenever they want endlessly. Call and consume their operator time without paying or giving information. Be a bad customer. The worst customer. Inspire them to invoke their right to refuse you service by not soliciting you.

Unite or remain conquered. Answer/return every call - become well practiced at keeping these folks on the phone - or count yourself not amongst the free.

I called the number back and only gave them a phone number to search under so I didn't give our card info. She confirmed that my number was listed under two customers. The other customer is in collections. I asked her to tell me the last four numbers on my card so I knew she was legit. It is Capital One.

StopTheHarrassment replies to Pay your bills people!
OK whether this is legit or not, they call our office multiple times daily and ask for someone who does not and has never worked here nor been associated with us. It is very disruptive and we have been told several times that we will have our number "removed from the list". So, now they just constantly call and hang up on us.  Its kind of a moot point if people should pay their bills or not, when they are harrassing a place of business for someone who is not even here.

No they call even after they receive payment ON TIME.  This has happened to me twice now. Clears the bank but they still say they have yet to receive the electronic payment?  They call and act like a collection agency rude, no telephone etiquette, and do not announce who is calling. That alone would force me to remind them of what manners are and how to properly call a personal number. Capital One are dirty anyway so I am not surprised. Unauthorized charges to their partner companies, late fees charged based on the date that THEY CASH a check, no customer service or misleading and deceptive at best. Funny how I don't have this trouble with ANY other business I deal with. So what I am getting at is don't judge; especially without the facts. Wait you must work for Capital One.

Let me tell you what is bad, I called them a week ago on Wednesday and told them that i will be making my payment for june and july the following Wednesday.  My child is extremely sick, so I was 30days behind. They sent out a tow truck guy Sunday to pick my vehicle up, from my grandparents house, i was not there I was at the hospital.  Law is that they can not come pick up your vehicle unless you are almost 90days late.  My grandmother calls me, and tells me that they left me a number to call them.  I'm extremely peeved then, so I called them, and he said they will not accept that , and they can accelerate my note when they feel like it.  I said fine and hung up with them.  The next day my husband goes to a used car dealership where he has paid all 4 of his cars off, and got me another vehicle with no money down.  I called capital one and told them to come get their vehicle. Why is that vehicle still sitting in my yard, now for two weeks, but they were so anxious to steal it out of my yard, so now I'm trying to give them there vehicle back, and they won't come get it.  R u serious!!!!!

The caller ID says "800 Service".  I never answer calls that I do not recognize or know the number.  A message has never been left.  If it was that important, they'd leave a message.  So annoying.

Send them a letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they stop calling and you intend to file a lawsuit against them for violations of the TCPA & FDCPA by harassing a non-debtor if the calls don't stop.

I periodically get or receive calls from this number, no message is ever left and sometimes it appears hours or a day after my menu shows it was to have come in.    No message is ever left or name and that should not be.   I think it is very suspicious when some one makes a call and does not leave a return number or name because to me then the call could not have been that important.   Too many bogus calls coming in for comfort.  Very rare, but if I make a call and it turns out to be the wrong number, I will allow the recepeint know that I made a mistake or "sorry wrong number!" .

Oh man, thats nothing! I decided to switch to paperless billing, and made sure that all info was correct so that bill would go to my e-mail. I didn't receive any emails from them, or any hard copies of my bill for over 5 months! I realized that i was late, only when i went online to pay, and had late fee. I requested paper statements again, and e-mail. but still didnt get either, and kept getting the run around. How am i supposed to pay my bill, or know i need to pay my bill if i never get one? and since then i have gotten daily calls whether or not i pay my bill on time.

i just received a call from them @ 9:14 pm. last week got one at like 6:45am! WTF! really?!?
