The company is Cap One and they are very easy to deal with. Just call the same number back and pretend you are a customer. Once you get a real representative let them know that you want the phone number removed from their data base.

Unless you are the once they are looking for...

Caller asked me if my name was such and such and wanted me to verify my birthdate and last four digits of my social.  When I refused to verify that over the phone, she went into this spill how my name was common and she needed to verify my social.  That it was an important business matter and to protect myself I needed to verify that information.  After repeating that I wouldn't verify that, she told me to hold on and she was going to check to see if should wave the fact I didn't verify and still give me the information about the important business matter.  I hung up.

If it's Capital One, they never leave a message so I'm a bit confused, I don't have any any cards or loans with Cap One.  The last call was at 10:29 this morning. I picked up and said hello, but nobody was there.  I did give it about 25 seconds because I really didn't have any idea what it was about, but nobody came on the line.

Wierd.. I don't mind a collector calling me if I owe something..  I'm human and I do make mistakes (I try not to but I do) so sometimes, it's a welcome call.

But if you don't owe them anything, they shouldn't be calling at all right?  Doesn't that make it a sales type call?  And I'm no the DNC list.

I'm wondering if it's really Cap One.

Capitol One is insane with their phone calls when you miss ONE payment. I have tried picking up and talking to the person but they don't even listen to what you say. I tried to explain the situation and all the person kept saying was "I see, please provide a bank account number" or "just give me a bank account number and we'll set up a payment" over and over again until I was almost yelling at the person to actually listen to what I was saying. If I am telling you that I do not have any money this month and that I will make sure the bill is paid at the next due date then why are you saying over and over again to give you a bank account number? So you can overdraft my account or the payment bounces?

Commercials for different cards show how great it is to have real people on the line when you get phone calls but Capitol One's "real people" might as well be robots because they do not give a crap about what is going on or what you are saying. Having they never had a bad month where money was really tight? Sorry but if it comes down between eating or paying rent or giving you your credit card payment this month you're out of luck buddy.

"Sorry but if it comes down between eating or paying rent or giving you your credit card payment this month you're out of luck buddy".

I heard that! A collector kept screaming and talking over me as I was patiently trying to explain to him why my payment was ONE day late and I was going to mail it as soon as my child support check arrived. Exasperated, I finally hollered back at him: "If you think this is a contest as to whether or not my child eats or you get your money, guess WHO just won!", and hung up in his ear. He actually called back and apologized--but not before I lit into him for being rude and refusing to listen to me.

    It works BOTH ways!

I get harassed more by capital one for a $300 debt, than my friend does after walking away from a $650,000 mortgage that was refinanced 3 times.  That house still sits vacant trying to be sold by the bank for $400k, still overpriced. .   WTF!

I beg to differ. They will call even if the payment is on time and not in default.
