You cannot hide your number, even with *67 when calling a toll-free number like 800/866/877, because the other party is paying for the call. In this case the other party is this slime. So if you're not careful you will be associating the number you call from with the number you want them to stop calling and now they have harvested another number to harass you.
On the other hand, you can try believing what they say on this board (but what they won't tell you when they call???) and go ahead. It's your funeral, err I mean decision. - Pat replies to deleted postI moved recently. Since I've been at my new address and phone number, this strange LLC has had their machine calling me at least ten times a week. The soft spoken man says, "Hello . . . this is an important business call, not a solicitation. Please call . . . " I have absolutely no debts. My credit rating is perfect. I am not a "loser," nor am I a "low life." I am a victim of the computerized financial system.

- ChelleGot a call from Sam from the Bureau of Recovery, who states he has a bill from Sprint that I need to take care of in his office. He just wants to help prevent having this account go to collections. Funny thing is account not set for collections. Even willing to offer a discount to save me a few bucks(WOW, how nice of him). Then while asking him a few questions like whats your website(which he had to think of/check to see if it changed), then when I asked for his number to google it. He disconnected and I found this. He called back several times after that. He was sooo ready for my debit card or check info.
Thank God I have a computer!- Caller: Not Provided

Complaint Department - BobHave received calls from this number multiple times, the first couple were answering machine messages saying that I should call them concerning an important business matter or something to that effect, and that this was not a solicitation. Having an excellent credit history, I called and told them I am not the person they are trying to reach. That was two weeks ago, calls resumed last week, multiple calls with no message left. I called them a second time during business hours today and a gentleman named Oscar was very polite and told me the name they were looking for, which I was able to confirm is not me. Oscar said I have been removed from their database. Since they said that two weeks ago, we shall see. They never have officially identified themselves as a collection agency. They identify their company as "Bureau of Recovery"--maybe they are the governing body for a 12-step program? A medical regulatory agency?
To be completely fair, I can understand why it might be difficult to get off one of these lists once your number is on it. If they took everybody who said they had the wrong number at their word, they'd never collect anything. What's frustrating is that those of us who are truly not the person they are seeking have little recourse except to threaten to involve government agencies or take other legal action.- Caller: Bureau of Recovery

- Sprint Loses Paying CustomerThey have been calling daily for some time. I called back to them about a month ago, they would not tell me who they were or why they were calling. The rep said she needed me to tell her what number I was calling from, so I did giver her that information; she said it is all cleared-up and she will remove from calling list. Then it started back up. Wife spoke the them yesterday (she was spoiling for a fight after tough day at work)and gave it to them. First they hung-up as soon as she called, the third time she got a hold of rep who finally said she was from "Bureau of Collections" for Sprint. Would not say what city she was calling from and yelled at my wife. Needless to say we are very unhappy and are canceling Sprint ASAP. Hear that Sprint? Lost business from very good customers. You suck.

- PapaThe scammers have called my number frequently. They leave messages on my voice mail, saying "not a solicitation, an important business call." I finally called, and asked who was calling. He said the "Bureau of Recovery." (I have no late or unpaid bills.)
He said he couldn't find my number on the call list, but the calls keep coming. I have filed a complaint with the states attorney generals office.- Caller: Bureau of Recovery

Complaint Department - Anonym| 1 replyThe last week or so I have received calls (at least once daily) from this number only recorded messages saying it was an important business call, not a solicitation, and to please call back. I haven't. Today I got a call from the same number, they used my name and told me to call back and ask for Ivan. Still no details about what company it was.
- Ok replies to Bureau of Recovery| 1 replyI called the number as specified above. It is a voicemail system for Bureau of Recovery and the greeting indicates that you can leave a message either if you want someone to call you back or you can let them know if they're calling you in error. I left a message saying they were calling me in error with my phone number and an explanation that the person they're looking for doed not reside with me. I've only had my number for a couple months.
We will see if they continue to call or if this works. - It works! replies to OkThis works! I called them last night, left the message and no call today!
If you want them to stop, call and leave a message with your number asking they stop calling it. Sounds like they're actually complying with FDCPA. - guy replies to AnonymCall the number listed above by their rep. This works! I called them last night, left the message and no call today!

They give their business hours and phone number and that is all. I haven't answered any of them or called back, so I do not know who it is. I googled it and came up with Bureau of Recovery, a collection agency, but I do not have any outstanding debts!
- RLGetting Calls every night about 5:15 - this is a business call not a solicitation
- Not TrustingI received a call from this number, stating it is imperative that they be called back- we do not have any late bills or credit problems. They called my work number which is not published on anything because I just started here. This definitely makes me feel uncomfortable!
