- ChuckThis scam number will ask for your credit card number straight from the gate. 🤔. You can ask them for their names, location etc, but eventually they know the game is up and hang up on you.  They do claim to be a Capital One call center, but ask you if you have a Capital One account. If you reply “no” they happily ask to help you open one up in your name; provided you give them ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFO including Soc.  BEWARE

- Hdawg| 1 replyGet about 3-4 calls a day stating to call back 1-866-953-7906 but the number that calls is 1800-955-6600.  I’m getting extremely annoyed as they leave the same cut off robo voicemail once a day so I decided to call back. I tried entering a fake 4 digit number but it didn’t work so I hit zero and got right to a representative who said it was capital one and asked for my full 16 digit card number or full 9 digit social security number. Before I provided that I said I was recording the call for my own personal reference as I kept getting calls and wanted to have this call on my records in case they kept calling.  Immediately the person stated I was not allowed to record the call as it is against their policy but if I wanted to have a phone call for my records I could call the number on the back of the capital one card.   Unsure what that means but considering how many people say this is a scam and considering how much the tone changed when I said I was keeping record of the call I’m not sure they are real.  I just want them to stop calling me 30+ times a week starting at 730am which isn’t technically legal if they are a debt collector according to the fair debt collectors act.  Will blocking this number actually Work?

- Hdawg replies to BobbyHahaha I wish I could be the one!! It seems complicated though as people change their numbers all the time.  I’m not the Silicon Valley techie however I dunno how someone can create something to screen spam calls but I’d be grateful
- BigA replies to Hdawg"I just want them to stop calling me 30+ times a week starting at 730am which isn’t technically legal if they are a debt collector according to the fair debt collectors act"  I am assuming you mean the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act?  If so, it only covers 3rd party debt collectors not original creditors.  Original creditors are only regulated in 5 states.  If you have one of their cards and are behind on payments you should be contacting them using the number on the back of the card or on your statement.  If you do not have one of their cards I would suggest that you contact them and tell them to stop calling, preferably by certified, return receipt mail.
- k johnson replies to StopLyingThis is a lie!!! This is most definitely a scam! Â I do not have an account with Capital One Account and I am getting these calls. Â I did have one over 10 years ago, but the interest rate wasn't the greatest so we went with our bank card that also offered cash back benefits. Â We paid off the small balance and closed the account. Â And, yes we closed it-- something a lot of people forget to do or simply don't do. Â I was advised to close an account you do not plan to use. Â Many times companies will close a dormant account, but it is better if you just close it yourself. Fewer chances of someone fraudulently using your account.
- lbh replies to StopLyingYou are obviously part of the scam! Â I DO NOT OWE ANYTHING ON MY CAPITAL ONE! Â I pay in full every month, on time. Please people do not listen to this person. This is NOT a call because you have not paid your bill.
- lbhI answered our office phone and got a pre-recorded message from this number stating their was an urgent issue with our account. Â They called from 800-955-6600, it did not sound legit so I came to look at the number they told me to call. Â I did not call
- Caller: Capital One????
- Susie P. replies to Tamara L.We have been getting this call on a regular basis. Â We have not picked up or returned call. Â One reason I think this is a scam call is that the caller never states who they are calling for.
- Government WorkerFraudulent robocall came into a county government office. Female robo-voice asked call recipient to input credit card number. I called the call-back number -- 866-953-7906 -- and was told I could email my complaint to abuse@capitalone.com.

- VickyI don't answer unknown numbers. If the person really needs to contact me they will leave a message or reach me in a different form of communication. Not only does Linda not call from 18669537906. I block Linda once then the next time a different number calls with the same stupid Linda voice message. This BS is out of control.
- FrankieReceived garbled VM from this number. Returned the call. They said they were Capital One. They asked for personal information that I refused to provide. Allegedly “collections”, I am not having any issues with my Capital One CC, so I told them I would call the number on the back of my card, which doesn’t match this #. I blocked it.

- MarciaGot a voicemail from Linda at Capital One at 7:52 pm on a Sunday night. Â Her voicemail said she needs to discuss Capital One business & to call her back at 866-953-7906. Â The caller ID showed she called from 800-955-6600. Â I got my statement out, those numbers did not match any customer service #'s on Capital One statement. Â I looked up the number online & am glad I found my answer....scam.

- Confused Cap1| 2 repliesSame as others.. “Linda” called from â€1 (800) 955-6600‬ to call this number with important business matter with capital one. The number provided to Call back in fact goes to capital one. It pulled up my account info with my phone number automatically when I called. When speaking to the representative she was able to tell ME the lady 4 of my 2 card numbers and credit lines and I only verified my account with the last 4 of my social. So it’s trally Capital One. However, she wasn’t able to figure out why I got a call and no records on my account indicated they called. So that’s still a mystery as others have stated. I am not past due, etc.

- Tygerkat replies to Confused Cap1Haven't you ever heard of phone number spoofing? Just because this number was actually Capital one for you doesn't mean it is for others.
By the way, since you know who called you, why did you look up the number? Do you often look up known phone numbers? - Kasaundra replies to heatherWhat do you mean wells fargo?
- Moose19Received a VM from Linda who was calling from 800-955-6600 which stated as a TOLL FREE CALL. She was calling regarding a financial  matter and to make a return call to 866-953-7906. I DO NOT any problems with my accounts. After reading these posts here, I WILL NOT CALL the number.
