- harrassing replies to N/A| 2 repliesCCA is a collection type agency. If they are calling you, you owe a debt. They will harrass you by calling 1-2 times a day, if not more and then when you call to discuss the issue or to tell them to stop calling you, they talk down to you becuase you can not afford to pay them for whatever reason, and say they are not calling you every day...even though you have their number and messages in your phone. They will then say that they are not harrassing you by calling, it's simply trying to collect a debt. Well, as far as the FTC says...repeatedly use the telephone to annoy someone is prohibited. You can varify that on their website...http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm.
I have been in collections with CCA for 2 months, owe less than $200 and they are already doing employment verificaion to take the money out of my pay checks. I feel that I do not owe the original company this money, and will pay it when I am able to with out breaking myself. Until then, I have a family to take care of and living in Michigan, that is not easy these days. As far as the commnet about someone saying "Those messages are left...becuase YOU put yourself in collections!! That's what happens when you can't pay your bills. Sucks huh? Think about that the next time you decide to complain" a lot of us were ripped off by large companies and are asked to pay more than we owe. Which in this case, happened to me. So before you spout off about people complaing and not complaining, know the facts. Any form of collection agency has to have a license to operate in any state. I have not found ANYWHERE CCA has a license to do collections. - bingbongFirst of all, if you are responding in a negative tone towards the people that are posting about this number - stop, read, think, then type. Some of the responses have stated before *anything* else that they do NOT have ANY nor have EVER had bills that were put into collections. Therefore you CANNOT tell these people that if they had paid their bills, they would not be receiving calls from a collections agency. So let me enlighten you further.
There have been three different 1-800 numbers calling my home so many times in the course of the day that my voice mail was full by the end of the day. I contacted each of these numbers and each one had at least five people - all unrelated, never lived at my address, or tied in any way to me. My last name is crazy and you just don't find it that randomly in the phone book.
Any debts for which I owe - have been called out by their respective companies and they tell me live or via voice mail recording just who they are, who they are calling for, and what it is they are calling about. The ones like this "877-208-4176" are shooting in the dark.
SO! With that being said, and for those of you who are legit and are receiving these calls because of someone else's ignorance, give them a good tongue lashing! You owe them nothing? Then tell them that and tell them to remove your phone number from the file for whichever person they are calling about. These people are also in the mindset that you may actually be the person they are calling about and just shining them that you're not. Either way, give them hell.- Caller: Unknown
- BestI returned the phone call from 1-877-208-4176. They stated they were looking for James Stassenberry. The also stated they removed my phone number from their call list and to give it 24 hours to take effect.

- tamanite| 1 replyThese people have called several times for different bills that someone else with the same name owes....not us or anyone we know. The fellow there who calls himself "Cody" was the easiest to deal with. He simply verified that the person he was looking for was no one in our household, but he told me that their computer automatically calls everyone in the phone book with that same name until they hopefully get lucky. What a way to do business! Best to list your phone number in the directory under "Tinkerbell" or some such other fake name to avoid most of these calls.

- ourfavoritemom| 3 repliesThe first time I have heard of CCA they called my ex husband's home and left a message for me. I have not lived with him for 13 years, and we are legally divorced, which means they have no business discussing me with him. Lucky for me he is smarter than they are.
Thay were looking for me for a bill which I did not owe which was 10 years old. 10 Years!!!
I sent a letter demanding they stop contacting anyone I know or me by phone, and only contact me by mail, with evidence of the bill. They sent me letters, not evidence, and they are still calling!! Next stop for me is the county attorney for harrassment.- Caller: CCA

- ultra_violet replies to MIAIt's apparent English is your second language...bravo to you for learning a new language, first off!
However, TYPING IN ALL CAPS is the equivalent of screaming on the internet. As I said, your syntax, spelling and spacing are indicative of a new speaker...just dropping a friendly hint!
Wishing you continued success in learning your new language. - asingleguyThis company called 9 times in one day.

I have not heard from them since and have no clue why they would be calling me. - Janey replies to bluebunny| 1 replyI got the message, and called back immediately. A rude man answered
and mummered who it was, I said "Who is This" he said, "what can I
do for you?" I said Who are you and why did you call me? Answer was
abusive and rude again. I hung up. I won't answer again. My attorney
told me if this was a collection call, I would have received a letter
first. Also, they may be going after family of someone who owes the debt
who have received letters. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, OR OTHER INFO. - JaneyAbusisve and rude man on the other end. They won't tell you who they
are. So I hang up.- Call type: Debt collector
- Lonewo1f| 2 repliesI dont have any debt what so ever lets just get that straight now before all the absuive posts start i dont even have a credit card!!!
These people call constantly for someone who used to have my phone number, some guy that i have never even heard of... i have called them 3 times already to let them know that this person does not have my phone number nor do i know who they are or where they went.
3 times i have been told they will remove me from there calling list and "sorry for the inconvienince" yet these people still keep calling several times a day!!! - chat replies to Lonewo1f| 1 replyso they also keep calling for my son who probably does owe money. he is in Iraq. can they go after his military pay?
- NA/NA replies to N/AI am being called because they have the WRONG NUMBER and are too stupid to believe my voice mail - when they leave messages - or when in person I have told them they have the WRONG NUMBER AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE PERSON THEY ARE TRYING TO REACH LIVES OR CAN BE REACHED.
Wise up! - ConfusedKept getting calls from these people, leaving messages about 9:00 PM most every night.
Finally decided to call them back, since everything I owe is current. Some gentleman, who sounded half asleep, answered with CCA and asked me what did I want? I asked why he had called my number not 5 minutes earlier? He said he didn't remember calling and asked for the number he called. I gave him my number and he tells me that some woman owes someone money, not specific as to the debt, specific as to the woman. I tell him no such person lives here. He asks do I know where she lives? I say I've never heard of her. He says that he'll take my number off their file.
Let's see if I get any more calls from them.- Caller: CCA

- Leave me alone| 1 replyYesterday a rude lady left me a voice mail for someone who doesn’t live with us or we know… It was a standard message.. "We have an important personal business matter to discuss..." ..
First I did not want to return the call but then thought that she might actually have a legitimate problem so I called and guess what.. That rude lady was really really rude. Man, don’t know how these people get through with their day and life like that. Anyway, I told her that the # she has is wrong and I don’t know anyone by that name.. I tried to find out what CCS or CCA does but she don’t budge.. Wish I had never returned that call and had let her spin her wheels for nothing..
BTW, that very rude lady is Cindy. There was lot of noise in the background as if she was sitting on a railway platform.
People, if they call you for someone you don’t know then don’t return the call. Ignore them. - Cate| 1 replyThis is a collection agency looking for someone else. I bought this house 15 years ago. The person they are looking for has not lived at this address for at least 15 years. My phone number has never been associated with this person. I have had this phone number for about 18 years. I have never met the person they are looking for.
I called them and told them not to call anymore, but they continue to call everyday, sometimes more than once. They leave a pre-recorded message and do not allow me to speak to someone immediately during their calls.- Call type: Debt collector
- SomebodyGot this call twice lately. Can't understand anything said. I didn't answer, but listened to the message. I've registered my cell on the do-not call list. How can we stop this>
- Caller: Couldn't understand
- Annoyed too replies to smartSorry, I've never in my life had a past due bill and I owe absolutely nothing to anybody! The call is for somebody and I can't even understand the name except the first name is Thomas, so stop assuming that people who get these calls are all deadbeats!
