WRONG on the phone recording...you need to research State laws, they are STATE by STATE--some require two person and some one party consent--meaning if in a state with one party--if you are a party you have consented-once the caller stated the phone call was being recorded by someone he staying in the conversation gave consent--period--research statutes before you spew out it is a felony. Further it is THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION ACT that they are in violation of period--harassing, threatening and calling after 9 is a violation and subject to fines--it is the time zone the called lives in not the caller.  You must work for one of those ignorant, undereducated and law violating collection agencies.

The debt is most likely past the SOL. Confirm the statute of limitations for your state

I received a call from this number yesterday, but I missed it. I called them back to see what it was about because I recently submitted my resume to an international recognized company and thought, "Well, maybe."

A lady answered and something " EEOJSCCA".

I said, "Yes, I missed a call from this number and I was making a return call. What company did you say this was again?"

She said, "What number did you have a call from?"

I said, "This number, that's why I called."

She said, "But what number did you miss a call from?"

I said, "877-208-4176. The number I called and you answered."

She said, "Yes, but what number was the call from."

I hung up at that point and have just now gotten around to searching to find out what type of company this is. Now that I know, I recognize the name from a letter I received last month.  They are trying to collect on an old $75 bill from 1997, with Sprint.

We received a phone call from the 877-208-4176 number that asked us to contact a person named Carry (or Kerry or Kelly) Smith.  It was about a family member with specific name requested (Name XX).  We were to contact them to give information on this family member.  We have no idea how this person got a hold of our personal number.  When we called the number back, the person that answered the call identified herself as Irene.  When we asked what company she represented, she denied that number belonging to a company and insisted that she could not talk to us unless our name was the family member that they were inquiring about (Name XX).

Get off your high horse and quit being a bottom feeder.  Yeah everyone situation is bad that gives you know right to talk to people like they are trash.  How would you like if I called your grandma 14 times a day. Treat others how you want to be treated.

I changed my cell phone number after moving to a different area here in VA, so I would have a local cell #. Within days of changing the number, I began receiving calls for someone else!  The first few calls were from a payday loan store - I informed them that this person no longer had this number.  I still received two more calls from them.  Then nothing for about a month.  THEN I began receiving calls from 877-208-4176, CCA.  I'd hang up on the recorded message, as it instructed to do so if I was not "this person".  I was getting a call per week. After the first two calls, the third time I called the number back (thank God for Caller ID). I got a rude person on the other end, who - after telling her I was not the person they wanted, had no clue as to she was and had been given this cell number over a month prior by the cell phone co.  They said (finally) that they'd take the number out of their database.  Yet, about once a week, I still get automated collection calls.  Next thing, I want to find out their address, make a copy of my cell bill, and mail it to them along with copies to my attorney!

just responding in hopes that this poster will consider alternate scenarios before they offer such harsh and rigid advice.
I, too have received 3 calls from this number. That is why I began an internet search to glean some facts about "them".
My husband called the number or stayed on  the line to respond...as instructed, to find out what the call was about after the 2nd time. The individual on the other end was rude and abrupt and ultimately hung-up on my DH even though my DH was perfectly civil and truly attempting simply to get info to be sure we had no obligation etc.
Come to find out this was regarding a very old debt that was incurred by our adult son. The debt HAD BEEN PAID OFF and settled with the bank.
So, not all calls like this are received ONLY by those who owe...and this came to a household where the past debtor had not lived while they incurred the debt AND the debt had been successfully settled some time ago.
I certainly agree that someone who owes money may incur the penalty of being "hunted" down for collection. But this is not one of those situations.
I appreciate the info that has been shared here. I now can concur with what has been written. Be vigilant and don't get scammed.
Someone who owed in the past may even still feel fear or obligation and could be easily taken in if they don't understand that their debt has been "wiped out"

    Really? replies to CCA
Get your own page to air your views. And if you're so freaking smart, why is it that you cannot spell or use proper grammar? And last but not least, Mr. CCA, if you are so SO legit, tell me, why you are trying to collect a debt that was paid off 15 YEARS ago?
Actually, I'm not done...I read everything in a contract and still cannot figure out how it is that you all are trying to a debt that has been PAID. But beyond that, away from own personal situation, if everything was as straight forward as "paying our bills", then why would the Fair Debt Collection Act even have to be a reality? The fact of the matter is that you guys are predators, feeding on insecurity and fear. I seriously doubt you even have a college education but you present yourself as a first-rate bottom feeder. I have answered your calls and I don't even get a REAL person. What I get is some robo-droid. I have called you back and when I do get a..ummm..person, I am asked to reveal personal information that no legitimate company would ask over the phone. You pay your bills and roll on repo'd wheels because you scam and lie. Don't try to rope people in with your brand of thug logic.
