yes you have 30 days to request validation of the debt.  however under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, passed in 1978, you must do so in writing within 30 days of first contact. this does not stop any agency from colecting said debt however. and if you read the letters here, they all say they dont know whythis company calls until they lookup the number here. because the agencies do not reveal why they are calling. so get your facts straight. and the cosigned does nt have 30 days to settle a debt with a debtor they have  until the account is delinquent to settle it with the CREDITOR! and im so glad you orked for our legal system and yet can stand up and peroclaim how you wont pay your bills.  thatsthe american way shirk your responaibilities and rip off anyone you can. you sure your not a politiician maybe.

in many states a wife is responsible for a husbands debt as spouses are considered one entity. if it was for a charge that occurred ater your divorce, the your beef is with your ex for fraudulenty using your address and phone number as his.  why is it you people do not understand that? do you think collections agencies just randomly call people hoping maybe they might find someone who knows some guy  who knows someone who owes a bill?
so your ex isnt smarter than the collection agency. he is smarter than you.

most military cal ups and servicemen  will notbe garnished unless you are talking about a large amount of money and i mean a LARGE amount.
please call the collection agency and let them kno your son is in iraq they will thank you and stop calling , i guarantee it.

if you call and rudely say " that person doesnt livehere now stop calling me" and hang up.  your number will not be removed because you sound like someone trying to avoid paying thier bills. but if you simply calmly say im sorry my name is ( give your name, you dont owe so you have nothing to fear) and say the person you are calling about is most cettainly not someone i know nor do they live here. and thats al it takes. its not like some telemarketer wherre you can ask not to be called back.
this is for bills people run up. not selling you magazines subscriptions.

first you say you dont know the peson, then you say your worried this person needs help?  if you dont know them why would you be worried?

they leave a vague message about calling about an important personal business matter and to please call them back.

The reason you are offered credit is to make a profit. So therefore, you will always owe more than you think based on the contractual interest and fees when your payments stop.

my call was for an ex-wife of my hubby and they said they get their information and are trying to contact that person.  They were not rude, but could not give me any more infomation.

they left a message on my machine. i called back from another phone, intentioanlly to throw them off, had a feeling i guess. i asked who they were and they kept saying CCA mam, CCA, i asked what it stood for and he would not answer me. i hung up & googled them

It is not illegal to record a conversation. In the state of Arizona only one party of the conversation need be aware of the recording. Which means that the person recording the conversation need be the only one to whom is aware of the recording and that person is not required to inform the other person of the conversation being recorded.

I do not negotiate with Bill Collectors! just like the US does not negotiate with Terrorists. If the original company doesn't go after the debt than why would they. If I pay anybody it would be only to the original company and some Collection Agency other than that find someone else to harrass. The only way you may have little chance is to come by my house and beat it out of me if you are actually able to do that.

I have an 820 credit score. I have nothing in collections. These people call wrong cell phones all the time and you cant get them to stop. So its not always because people have some bad credit.

Tell these bill collectors to kiss your where the sun don't shine, everybody has their own situations. They can call til they are blue in the face, I WILL NEVER Pay a Collection Agency nor will they talk to me crazy. I will ONLY pay to a company that I originally owe. I don't care what it says. You talk to me crazy you will get an even crazier person. Because lets get the record straight people always talk big on the phone. Plus I pay the phone bill and if you are calling me I don't have to call you back or listen to your stupid messages. Most likely the original company charged this off meaning they will write off as a loss. Collection agencies are just bottom feeders and the people that work for them are just the same bottom feeder people. I wish a collection agent comes to my house and talks that crap!

they called me AGAIN!!!! after telling them 100 times my step daughter does not live here or has for 12 years. they told me they would not call anymore  AGAIN!!! I told her they have said that a number of times and she started getting really nasty with me, so I'm sorry, I cussed her out. These people need to really stop this crap as they call my home business number and it's really getting tiring. Thought they were not supposed to do this anymore....

The automated voice asks for a person by name, and says to hang up if you are not him. Then it says, if you continue with the call, you are certifying that you are the person. Then it says now there will be a three-second pause.  I hang up at this point.

Dude, they just called me here and it's 2:30 AM! WTF?? They have called several times before, too...

I don't know why or how they got my cell phone number, I want them to lose it immediately
