GMC is calling for a Steven Stevens who lived in a lower apt - I told them several times he moved out a year ago but GMC keep calling. I am on the do not call list...

Second call from this number to my home phone.  The automated system inserting the name didn't even sound as if it were in English.  I listened to the entire call, got the reference number and called it, blocking the number I called from. I told the kid who answered that I wasn't sure who they were looking for since the automated message was incoherent.  Gave him the reference number, told him what it "sounded" like, and he found it.  I said they had called before, he gave me the actual number and I informed him there wasn't anyone at that number with that name.  He said it's been removed from the system.

we get these debt collector calls for someone that was at the address over 7 years before. They have an automated caller they set up to call the phone # that matches the address of the person that skipped out. It doesn't seen to matter that we are not that person or that we are on a do not call list. I guess we need to take them to court to get our satisfaction. Yes they do get huffy when you call them & say you do not call us. But just got another call.

No one ever leaves a message when they call me. I hear noise in the background and other people talking but nothing else. if they would say who they are or what the bill is for then maybe I will pay it. most of the bills I owe are over 7 years ago and statuttes of limitations in Iowa are 6 years.

this is a collection company that purchases bad debts from other financial companies. it is Glass Mountain Capital. They hope to collect a bad old debt or get information for skip tracing.
Write back the following:
Your company contacted me at my home and/or place of employment seeking to collect a debt  you allege is owed.  I was advised by legal to record each and every communication with your company.

Regarding future communications, I demand that you hereinafter cease and desist contact, with me or any of my family members, except for limited circumstances allowed by statue, 15 U.S.C Section 1692c (c), and that you communicate with me and my family in writing via the United States Postal Service.  (when you get there mail Google the address and return, I print a label off the computer and tape it over the envl., this way the postal company will not tear open the envl to resend,) mark the envl return not at this address and let it be.)

regarding the above referenced matter, I report the following documented Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations:
1)  Your communications have never clearly stated, as required by law, the appropriate language, "I am a debt collector, this is an attempt to collect a debt, and any information will be  used for that purpose,". As you know, this statement must be provided upon all contacts with the consumer, 15 U.S.C Section 1692e (11).
2)  You failed to inform me of my right to dispute this alleged debt within thirty (30)  days of your initial written notification 15 U.S.C Section 169g (b)
3)  Your communication with me constitutes unfair and unconscionable tactics since, in order to increase the likelihood that I would return your call, (if you are on SSDI, they cannot attach your income, so notify them and they will know that they do not have any resources to attach anything to collect the debt) that the only income you have is the SSDI benefits, 15 U.S.C Section 1692e.
4)  You refused to provide the name and address of the original creditor and the account number on the account, 15 U.S.C Section 1692g (a).

Please cease and desist all further contact with me regarding this matter.  Should you continue to contact her, I mm advising you of my right to seek those remedies afforded to me by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

This is what has worked for me.  My attorney provided me with this sample letter and also wrote it on my behalf.  They have not contacted me to date.  Please be advised that this is not providing you legal advise, but just a sample of what I provided to stop the calling my phone and contacting me in writing.

Most likely they will stop calling and move onto the next person on their list to call and collect from.  Most companies that purchase bad debts do not get the documentation and copy of the customer file to follow these laws.  They just hope the trick someone into paying off a bad debt, also know the laws in your State or town, in my state there is a status of limitations in the time a collector can collect a bad debt, then it becomes a dead debt.  Know  your laws in your state and stop these people.  Even though they sell this debt to another  company, this does not mean the new company cannot call, you will have to advise the new company all over again because the documents do not travel with the debt. Some companies have several different names to go  under.  Note this company is an LLC company.

Also print this off and read it to them while they are on recording, but in advance ask them when they call before you admit who you are.:
State to them:  just one moment, then state to them, I am also recording this conversation and will use it for future use, please note the following: read this to them, then if they are still on the other end of the phone by the time you finish, let them know that you too have this on recording and that you will use it in the court of law that they have been notified not to call again.  Most likely by the time you just state you are recording this call, they hang up, but first ask them who they are and their contact information and address before saying anything else or saying who you are.  They will not like the fact that they are being recorded and you know  your rights.

They are a real nuisance, and should be banned. They call and call and call. I will not talk to them.

This number has called my work and when we answer the phone it is a recording saying that they are calling for me and to call this 877 # back with a reference number. I have tried calling several times and a woman (same woman) will answer and starts asking alot of questions including wanting my social security number. I tried telling her that if they have a bill that I need to pay then they need to mail something to me. She kept talking right over me - very rude. I cannot get this number to stop calling my work number

I paid a debt to them 7 years ago.  They are stupid.  They have lost or have inaccurate records.

Just got a call from this number and no message was left.  Came up on Caller ID as follows:

I live in texas, the number that appeared on my phone was 361-288-7084, my area code but the actual caller was calling from 877-208-9952. After some research I find it was a debt collector. For about five days I answered, no one said anything. Today, caller said he needed my address to verify who he was speaking to, refused to give it. I asked for his number and it is a debt collector name Glass Mountain Capital, LLC. I have debt but it is all in debt solution program. Rude little something.

I downloaded the mr. number app and added this number to it  now my phones hangs up on
them

Just called at 6:22 pm on 28 Apr 2014.
I told them that the Billings Police Department is recording all calls and that they are not to call the number again, police report number # 13-65777. They could call 406-657-8200 to verify the report has been filed. We will press charges of telecommunication harassment stop calling.
She said thank you have a nice day.

I received a call from 877-208-9952, read all the messages about them on this blog and decided to call them back.  I have NEVER heard of them and they wanted me to verify my name, DOB, SS # and address before they could tell me what the call was about. I told them if they wanted to speak with me that bad they would tell me who they are BEFORE I gave out my personal information to make sure the call was legit. They said they understood and they hung up!  The best part is they can't be legit because I am in the middle of bankruptcy and all who matter know this!

You sound like some the a hole that calls and harasses people! Anyone and everyone knows that bill collectors will send you something in writing and from reading the posts of all below, these bill collectors have not done so. You, me and everyone knows that these are scammers and all I have to say is this will come to a end and no one gets away with wrong.

I had my Nissan repossessed in 2004, It is now 2015 and they want me to pay this old debt.  It has already cleared off my credit report since it is past the 10 years.  I just told them there was no way I am paying on it.  He said ok he would let their client know.
