got a call saying this was from AAA

Scam/fraud caller claiming to be AAA and tried to obtain credit card info!!!! Do not trust this number and report it to AAA...The line they will use is that "your membership has expired and they need to collect payment over the phone" consumer beware!!!

No, it's really them.  I had let my AAA account expire in September and they called me a few minutes ago to renew it over the phone so that I wont incur a once time $20.00 activation fee.

It's AAA, although they were calling me to tell me I had to renew over the phone, and couldn't do it online. I read these reviews and was wary, so I declined to give him any info. Hopped online, and was able to renew instantly. Weird.

This in face IS a AAA phone number for the retention department which is when you are 30+ days past your expiration in which the membership benefits (including online services) are suspended...please delete the negative remarks about this phone number due to the INCORRECT information that you are posting regarding this telephone number

My credit card was taken and my AAA account knew nothing about this and I had to renew AAA.  These guys should be closed down.

If this really is a AAA number, then why do they keep calling me and asking me to verify my address? I receive my renewal notifications, and my Westways magazine at my current address with no problems, yet they keep calling every so often to ask me to verify it????? Maybe aaa employee is one involved with this scam. Where I live, there is a AAA office a block and a half away, and I have gone in there and told them I am here to verify my address, and they know nothing about any pending requests for me to do so. I'm so sick of these scam artists. They all need to get real jobs instead of sitting around thinking of new ways to fleece people of their hard earned money.

If you don't recognize the number don't answer simple as that. Any reputable company has your information and can mail you a notice.

Yes, 877-222-4543 IS a VALID AAA number.  I got a call from this number and just to be sure I immediately called the AAA Member Services number off my card.  AAA verified that 877-222-4543 is a valid AAA number that is authorized to call members to renew memberships that are either expiring or have already expired.  The credit card I had on file needed to be updated that's why I got the call.  Bottom line is that THE 877-222-4543 NUMBER IS A VALID AAA NUMBER and that is ACCORDING TO AAA MEMBER SERVICES which can be reached by calling the number on the back of your AAA card.

I just called AAA Member Services and verified that the 877-222-4543 number IS A VALID AAA membership renewal line.

My issue is that bogus operations are known to spoof numbers and I tend be cautious of any given caller.

Well yes my AAA just expired so i was expecting a call BUT I NEVER answer unkn calls so they are out of luck, Reputible businesses use phone numbers that are correct. SO im calling AAA to take the scam call test  brb----do people ever answer phones .......grrr yes its a membership office, it is a valid number!

Spoke with the AAA main member office in my area and she validated the caller number.

A man called me from from that number and said Foret's card had expired (he totally mispronounced my daughter's name). He asked does Foret still live there, and when I said no, he just hung up. That's what scammers do. AAA representatives would never hang up. Their phone calls are usually monitored.

This may be a valid AAA number but I doubt seriously that AAA would call me FOUR times a day to get payment, day after day after day, even when the card has been paid up. This one definitely smells like a scam.

I was not going to renew my membership this year with AAA but I got a call from an agent leaving a voice mail that he can offer me a discount. I called him back at 1 877 222 4543 x4726. Alferodo offered me $5 discount. Only with that condition I accepted my renewal because I am unemployed at this moment and have to watch out for my expenses this year. I gave him my credit card information, he said he is going to charge me $43 and we both repeated the charge on the phone, couple of times. A week later I saw on my statement that he charged me $48, the full amount. I found this unbelievable and a scam…..

Got a call on cell phone from this number and he identified himself as AAA. Had a call on home phone with the same # on caller ID, identified himself as a collector from Comity Bank for J. Jill, same voice, same ex. number.
This is probably illegal. I'll know as soon as I call my lawyer!
