AAA, Auto Club.  My card expired 3 days ago. I was signed up for auto pay, but long story short, my credit card number had changed a few weeks ago.  This was a perfectly legit call.

Called two days in a row. First call just got silence, next call asked for "Mike" (not me) then dropped off. May have been a bot.
I called the number, claims to be the Auto Club. This may be a legit auto club number, though it's not listed on my card nor the contact page of the AAA web site. It's possible it's not legit, or is but is being spoofed.
At any rate I'm paid up for a year, no reason to be getting a billing call (if that's where it was going, it never got that far). Blocked.

This number is legit. It's AAA calling to tell you your membership has expired and to help you renew.

They were able to read me my AAA membership number. You'd have to be pretty deeply hacked for someone to know your AAA number!

Got calls twice from this number. This number is a real AAA phone number but the persons who called are not from AAA. Internet computer call. Everybody must remember not to give your credit card info through a phone like this. This is real scam. If you already gave out your credit card info through the phone, you absolutely need to watch out !!!

I already paid my AAA membership last week and was emailed a receipt.  DO NOT give your CC # to this guy!  If you want to renew, you call AAA. This is a con!

Same here.  I renewed online no problems.  I called AAA at the regular number and they confirmed they have a department that does this.  I told them they need to STOP the practice as it exposes customers to fraud.  ANYONE can fish one of the many statements you throw away from the recycling/trash and it has your number and exp. date on it.

The negative remarks are valid.  Calling a customer and asking them to give their CC number over the phone exposes them to fraud by someone who could easily pose as AAA.  Don't you get it? I called to complain that y'all need to stop the practice and instead if you must remind people, direct them to the phone number printed on their card/renewal statement.  No one should give payment info over the phone unless they themselves initiate the call to a known/verified number. EVER.

I had a newspaper salesperson call me to renew a subscription over the phone.. which I declined.  First hint.. he didn't know my address where the paper was being delivered, yet he could see details of my account.  Really?

Where is the disconnect here - half the people swear it's a legit number and that they gave the guy their info, while the other half swear it's a scam USING a Triple A number.  I think part of what's happening here is that the scammers post comments here, too.

Ditto the above.  However, I used the on-the-card telephone number for AAA membership renewal.

Got a call too from "AAA". Clearly this is a scam using spoofed phone number. Do NOT give your CC info over the phone by someone calling you up and simply asking for it. You have no idea who these people are. Any kid with a bit of knowledge can spoof a phone number.

Really snotty jerk claiming to represent AAA.  Think this is a scam to get credit card information or AAA needs money because in this wonderful Obama economy people can't pay their bills.

They claim to be a AAA and repeated the last 4 digit of credit and claims he needed another credit card because this one didn't go through. In addition, he was willing to give me a discount. FRAUD, LIAR. When i said, NO, and asked for him name, he hung up on me.

The person did not identify themselves and they asked to talk to Christopher....I am not Christopher.....thank goodness for being able to block numbers easily!

This really is AAA and a legitimate number. I had them call me back after I called for service.  So, if you are needing help with roadside service, I do not recommend blocking this number.
