Recieving MANY phone calls 877-312-2112 with "Out of Area" on caller ID. When I answer they ask for a relative that does not and never did live here. I am not affiliated with this relative in any business matters and have told them so. They continue to call even when I insist they stop. I DO NOT and NEVER HAVE owed these people money. How do I get them to stop?

I get calls from this number asking for someone I knew about 10 years ago but fell out of touch with. I said that to the person but he insisted I DID know the person's details and that "for my own good", I should give him the old friend's phone number. That's a threat I don't take lightly. I haven't spoken with this friend in years and have no idea how to contact her. But nearly every day, I get a call from a very rude man often named Curtis who threatens me if I don't give up the info which I DON'T HAVE. There has to be a way to stop these people from harassing people who aren't involved with any debt or issue with whoever they are.

I recvied a call from one of there professional collectors, I explained my hardship, and told them why my account had fallen deliquent. He was VERY understanding. He was calm curtious and professional in all ways. He offered me several options to resolve my debt, he even OFFERED TO REDUCE MY BALANCE if I paid a lump sum. I was provided with what he called a Pre-Settlement offer letter, and go figure, saved me ALOT of money that I honestly was legally obligated to pay back. My advice, rather than hiding on websites, try being human and talking to a human, like people. After all, even "bill collectors" breathe, eat, sleep, and contrary to popular belief they have hearts that beat.

    Thank you,

    Satisfied Customer.

I think it would have been best for the writer of this post to Google FDCPA and know the law instead of, "...I believe is a law." That type of disclosure can only be done to the debtor. Everyone else is fair game to getting a message across to the debtor to call 1-877-xxx-xxxx. If a collector states to a family member or neighbor that they are calling from a collection agency that is a direct violation of the FDCPA. This sort of vioilation would potentially get the collector sued for a minimum of $1000 and possibly fired. Imagine doing your job and coming home to say to your spouse, "hey not only did I get fired today; I have been sued." Yeah right, like a good collector is going to allow some insignificant acquaintance of a debtor to know anything more than the collector wants them to know. LOL!

I am pretty sure that did not happen! Matter of fact they caller was probably so smooth that while you were thinking up a story about swimming with whales in Africa you thought the caller was a friend. Once you realised how charismatic this Brian was; you got upset with the fact that you were already falling into the trap of disclosing yourself as a debtor. LOL!

I bet the message was a little more like he was calling about information left on an application. What else besides jobs require applications: licenes, loans, credit applications. Hmm. Maybe you should not try living beyond your means so hardworking human beings like Chris do not have to call you SO much. LOL!

    bothering Grandpa
My grandfather has been getting calls frequently - a couple of times a week. The guy says his name is Les Murphy and that he's looking for my brother. He refuses to give him my brothers information because he can't get any information out of "Les". He has passed the message along to my brother several times (we can't force him to call someone, he's 19) But everytime he calls my grandfather asks him again to stop calling. But its always to no avail. Does anyone know if this is even a real company?

You stupid little kid--READ the post that you replied to. They don't even know the person. I believe you are a pathetic good for nothing smart ass kid still living with your parents. You work for a collection agency and are brain washed. In reality, you can do nothing--but keep on guessing idiot. I sue junk companies like yours and make a lot more than $8.00 an hour. Your tactics are deplorable and illegal--and I have proved it in court many times. Good luck to you!

ANOTHER COLLECTION AGENCY FLUNKY TRYING TO CONVINCE THE WORLD THEY ARE LEGITIMATE WHEN THEY ARE NOT

no one has ever been helped by a collection agency.  they just take your money and sell the debt to another company so it can start all over.

Found them on the internet and yellowpages.com

Apparently they collect on behalf of US BANK.

YOU CAN PAY US BANK DIRECTLY AND NOT DEAL WITH THESE SCUMBAGS AT ALL

Also found this on the internet

I am a former employee of CACi, the company that is contracted by US Bank to collect when consumers are late paying their US Bank credit cards. CACi is a little collection company that makes a lot of cash by ripping off and thieving poor people that can’t pay their credit card bills on time. When a person be late paying their US Bank Visa card they be getting called from CACi. CACi employees are told to say that they are US Bank employees when they are not because CACi is contracted by US Bank and operates under the name of US Bank.

Where the scam be happening is with the “check over the phone”. The usually poor consumer is pressured into doing a “check over the phone” and is charged a $10 fee for doing this electronic check. The consumer be lied to and told that the only way to be getting them out of collections is to do the electronic check over the phone. This is a lie. A consumer can be getting out of collections if she takes the payment to a US Bank branch, mails in the payment, or pays online for free. The $10 fee for each electronic check seem like a little amount of money but imagine thousands of check fees for $10 each. Many poor people who are not aware and think that US Bank would not rip them off pay the $10 fee each month because CACi tries to keep people in collections forever to keep them making the $10 check fee. US Bank is in on the scam because they knowingly use CACi because they can charge the poor people that hold their visa cards $39 every time they are late on a payment. Some people are late every month and US Bank will not tell them so they can keep taking the fee. Imagine if your credit card payment was due on the 5th but you thought it be due on the 12th and kept making payments on the 12th. You would get a $39 late fee from US Bank, a $10 fee from CACi, pay a “collection rate” of interest of over 30% and also be charged another $39 every payment cycle that you are over the credit limit which you will be soon with all the extra fees!!! This is how they be scamming to make game on the public.
