- ShellyI'm getting the calls daily to my cell phone. Yesterday when I actually answered, there was no one there. Today I just sent it to voice mail.
- DonI have received automated calls like the other individuals 3 to 4 times a week for over 2 months. Last night the phone number was changed to 877-327-3099. I have left many complaints on the do-not-call website, but the calls continue.
- MLTRepeated calls harassing our family when the person has not had this phone number for over 3 years before we moved and received a new #. I am sick and tired of these Dolts calling. Apparently they are too cheap to buy a phone book.
- Caller: Unknown Name
- MeI have recived the same call from 1-877-337-3099 at aproximately 7PM CT for the past 3 months, a recording of a women's voice saying "this is not a sales call" and that we should call 1-877-337-3099 with a reference number. When I answer or on my answering machine the message is always the same. I have returned the call and am instructed to press one to speak to a representative. I press 1 and am immediately disconnected.

- mad64Ihave been receiving calls from the 3099 number and others I suspect are from the same company. One difference in my calls is that no one says anything when I answer. As soon as I say "hello", there is a click and then dead air. I think these people and anyone who works with them should be prosecuted for harassment. I owe no one and resent being bothered every day. I did call one of the numbers back one day and got a recording that said "if you think you have been called in error, state your phone number and name. I hung up. The calls persist and I intend to follow this until I get some legal resolution with these slime who do this.

- JDWell, I called back and it was legit, because they were
trying to collect a debt on a previous resident and I
was glad to straighten-out the fact that he no longer
lives here. - OldgringoI have same story as the others that posted.. this is an apparent Phishing exercise as it was practiced by another debt collect company last year. Apparently here is how it works:
they call cold to get personal information ssn's and then do credit check to see who one might owe money to then contact the creditors to get an assignment of debt collection. This is an easy way to make sales calls on creditors as they know who owes them money. All receiving calls should report them to reportphishing@antiphishing.org may not stop this quickly, but may help in the long run as other companies will be practicing the same tactics to market their services. - Guest| 2 repliesPlease read this post before you flame me (I full well expect people to ignore half of it and blast me, anyway). I'm *not* defending this company, and yes, there are tons of scams out there. My point of this post is a possible way to get them to stop calling you. I've had my number for about 2 1/2 years. I've had a call from this, or a similar company in.. Atlanta? maybe 3 or 4 times. I've Googled it as well, which is how I found this thread. They, and other companies use some type of auto-dialing system that will keep calling you until you call them back and respond. I listened to the options, and chose the one to speak to a live human being. Yes, he had an accent. Yes, I could understand him. I *politely* asked the name of the company. He told me right away (and, I'd already noted what was posted in this thread). I asked why they were calling; he said "this number (mine) is associated with a Mary -----. I told him I'd had the number for about 2 1/2 years, and I knew no one by that name, which is the truth. He thanked me politely, apologized for the calls, and said he would take my number off his list.
Had he asked me for any personal info, I would have refused to give it - if he doesn't know who I am, he has no reason or right to know.
After thinking about the call, I *think* I may have gotten a catalog or some bit of junk mail with that name over a year ago; I don't know for sure.
Is it legal to keep calling? I know in my state, telemarketers are allowed to call from 9am to 9pm. I also know they cannot overcome objections, and must say goodbye and leave a contact number if you indicate in anyway you're not interested, and take you off the list if you even hint you want off - even if you're not on the DNC list. They can also be fined if they persist, so instead of hanging up on someone who decides to be a pest, write down their info, demand to talk to a supervisor, get *their* info, and tell them you are reporting them to your state Attorney General. Then do it.
BUT-- I don't know if collection agencies are covered under this- These really aren't sales calls, they're "hey, pay up" calls.
And, yes, I've checked my credit reports on a regular basis, as we all should. Nothing's shown up from these calls.
The Short Version- I would NEVER give them ANY info, but, if you don't return the call, they're going to keep calling. That may be perfectly legal, even if annoying. Would I break my neck to race to the phone and call back? No. I was off from work today, so I called (and, I've checked my phone bill; in the past, these have been toll-free numbers).
Someone else please just try this, and see if it works for you, too.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!- Caller: Bay Area Credit Services

- Cynic replies to GuestGuest, you sound like a nice, patient person. But I'm through being polite to people who call uninvited and hang up on me because they have 40 other calls ringing at the same time. Screw 'em.
- Oldgringo replies to GuestSorry, but you are too gullible.. IE think that these types of companies are respectable.. it is Phishing.. and I see i your account that they keep changing names... so I won;t call you names.. but if I were you I would be a little miff'd at their idea that the Do Not call registry applies here as it may not... as they have a cover.. yet several companies have practiced this tactic and then several others appear.. so it isn't likely to stop. It's a numbers game.. call as many numbers as possible and probable that a good percentage will result in debts that they can then get assignment to... sorry, but I say that "sucks" as I do not have debts to be collected.. and their early wake calls disturb my sleep.
The practice will continue.. it's "free enterprise" that sacrosanct thing we "Americans" are obligated to worship, even if we lose sleep each morning.
I vote "no" mas! - jasonYou can block this number on your home number by dialing *60. You will get prompted to enter the number that you want to have blocked.

- olivia ruskcall daily between 8AM and as late as 9PM
Recorded message with ref# saying "not a sales call"
Very annoying - tired of it in VA877-337-3099 called my cell today @ 3:00PM. I called back from my work number (which is blocked). After pressing opt.3 for a rep. a very rude man told me it wasn't a scam and would not listen to a word I was saying. I hung up on him. I didn't give my # to be removed. I don't want to encourage these people! Have no idea what they want as I'm not in debt to anyone that would have any reason to send me to a collection agency. My ex's wives do this stuff all the time. They give my info to all sorts of places and we get awful mail, samples and phone calls!
