- Flemming| 1 replyOne of my colleagues has been harassed by this too so I did some search and found this web site.
One solution that might also work is to call your phone company to have them block phone calls from numbers (e.g. 1-866-706-5681, 1-877-337-3099)
If enough people take action, I assume that the phone companies will get tired of this too so that they will cooporate to have this harassment shut down. Since they own and manage the phone numbers, they are in power to make it stop.
I am wondering what economic incentive these companies have for all these phone calls - there must be one since somebody has to pay for the two or more 800-numbers. - kev| 1 replythey keep on calling
its collection agency - Cat replies to kevI have gotten a call for the last few days on my cell phone. My cell phone number isn't on any of our accounts plus we aren't past due on anything. I want the calls to stop! ARRGGGHHH!!!

Above is a link to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which requires a collector to identify the following in writing:
The name of the current creditor;
The name of the original creditor;
The amount of debt allegedly owed; and
Must advise an individual of his or her rights under the act.
Collectors are subject to a $1,000.00 fine for every violation.
If you are getting erroneous harassment calls from this number, take these steps:
1. first, block the number;
2. second, send this collection agency a certified letter advising that you are not the individual they are trying to reach;
3. third, advise them to "cease and desist" from further attempts to contact you by phone (include number); and
4. fourth, if calls continue, report it to the agency in your state that governs collection agencies (every state has one), and keep detailed logs, including voicemails, caller ID records, etc., of every attempt to contact you after receipt of your correspondence. (You will know the date, it will be tracked on your USPS mail receipt - green card.)
5. If harassment continues, consult an attorney that specializes in FDCPA violations. - FDCPA replies to FlemmingCollection agencies often times take an assignment of a delinguent account from a creditor in exchange for an agreement to collect the account on a contingent fee basis - i.e., one-third. The calls you are getting are robocalls, and most likely preprogrammed.

- MEMEI am tired of these people calling--am not behind on any of our payments.
I also am on the National-Do- Not call list, but this does seem to stop these people. Phone rings--no one is there. I want it stopped. Is there anything legal we can do to these people? - Rhoda replies to JudyOh I just L O V E these people - the company has been calling my home number for weeks now. We have had this phone number for almost 2 years now and suddenly they have started calling asking for this guy who lived in a house that we were previously renting and moved out of in December of 2007. We lived at that address for 2 years so the person they are looking for hasn't been at that address for 2 1/2 years at the very least. Apparently someone did a search with the address and came up with my phone number and decided to start calling and harassing us. I have repeatedly explained this to the company and they assure me that they will remove the number but it never seems to happen!
- AJI get a call from this number at least once a day on my cell phone. They never leave a message and everytime I picked up (twice), it says "please hold for the next representative" and played some music. It is highly annoying. Now I just end the call as soon as I hear the first ring.
- RBH| 1 replyI've received calls from this number for a few days, but after reading these postings I'd been ignoring it (I knew any debt wouldn't be for me). After the last message from them I decided to respond. I just phoned up, pressed 0 to speak to a live person and she was on the face of it very helpful. Basically the conversation went:
Agent: Are you XX
Me: No. I recognise the name from other calls to this number, but we've had this number for about 4 years now
Agent: OK, we can remove your number from the database. Sorry about that. It will take about 24 hours so you may get an additiohal call. Should I remove your address too? Do you live at YY
Me: No
Agent: That's good. So we'll just remove the number.
Me: Do you want to come and see my collection of motorbike parts?
I didn't actually say the last bit and obviously she also told me to have a nice day. Whether this all works or not I'll have to see, but it seemed straightforward. - Bernard replies to RBHI've been getting calls from this number for at least a month.
I advise everyone who reads this bulletin board to contact their state attorney general's office, file an official complaint, and ask the AG to investigate the unsavory business practices of this outfit, particularly if you are on your state's Do Not Call list or the FTC's national do not call registry. - MelThese people continually call for someone named Kevin. I've told them, I've screamed at them that there is no Kevin at the number. The woman would not tell me what company they were with. Can they do that?
I am on the Federal No Call list so I'm going to report it there. I wish everyone would do the same. - sk8eskt replies to MikeI have been getting them also. I just got another, no one answered, so I called them back. An antimated service came on, and I got a cancellation number. I pressed the 2 to cancel. Hopefully, it will stop! Figured if they have my number they can't scam me.
- Daryell replies to LauraIt is possible to conduct a web search, free to anyone in the US and check a number. These companies use something like zabasearch and check an individuals name. It gives the past residences. They will do a residence search and find the phone number that is assigned to that house and start calling. It is annoying but unfortunately, legal. The best way to stop it is to call them back, irritated of course and demand that they remove your number from their call list. check out zabasearch.com and see what you can find about yourself. It is free.
- D.H.WrightThe caller keep call me every hours of the day and into the evening. Pick up phone and tell them "this is a TTY number. Person on this end is hard of hearing. Please use your TTY equipment." In which they don't.
- Julia MillerThis individual calls about every other day at different times and does not say anything when I answer.
- TiredofitallThese idiots called again today, instead of answering when I said Hello thank you for calling I got hung up on. They are beating a dead horse, my sil is dead they aren't getting a dime from me, they need to go after her old man.

- georgiapeachI've been getting calls from the number for months and never answer. Today they left a message at 8:25am EASTERN with a reference number. I called back from my work number and got a message stating their office was closed. Closed at 1:24EDT (11:24MDT), yeah right. I bet if I called from my house number, somebody would answer and harass me...LOL
- sihablaespanolThese people have been calling even though I tell them they have the wrong number several times a day, I don't know who the person they are even looking for, anyways I answered today speaking in Spanish, they transferred me and I started to speak in Polish, these people were flabbergasted, and when the guy said look lady I'm looking for so and so I don't speak whatever you're speaking I said we agree we are both frustrated because so and so does not live here, but its been nice wasting your time. Might as well get a laugh out of this, since I have told atleast 30 times in the past three weeks, they have the wrong phone number.

- SamThis company is a front for several different collection agencies. I had an old MCI bill from 2002 that went to collections. I don't know how, but they got my home # but old mailing address. When I called the 3099 #, it auto-answered then hung up. I searched for this page on Google and got their Colorado # which worked fine. When the agent answered, she said "Bay Area Credit". They said they were a "3rd party" collection agency. When I asked who they were working on behalf of, they would not disclose that information. I told them I would not pay them until they disclosed who they were collecting for. I was transferred to a floor supervisor that told me the same thing. After assuring him he was not revealing the "super-secret nuclear launch codes", he told me Resurgent Capital was their client. I finally paid him and got my letter seven business days later. Hope this helps people. I just wonder what Bay is in Colorado!?!?
