From what I'm reading here it would make sense that a collector for Advanta would call me.
    They call everyday.

They sued me over a credit card debt 2 years ago and I responses to the suit and a court date was set.
I showed up in court and they did not show up so the Judge dismissed the case without prejudice.

I have the signed form from the judge.

Suddenly they have been calling me everyday..

Around 6 months ago they called and I told them that the case was dismissed by the judge and they gave me the address to mail a copy of the dismissal form.
I filled out an envelope and was ready to mail it to them and then decided that it probably is always better to NOT have any contact with, or give any information to these types of people so I never sent it.

Now they arfe calling me several times a day and I never answer the calls but today they woke me up at 8AM on a saturday so I answered and they asked if I was who I am and I said no.
I asked them who they are and they asked who I am then just hung up.

I just got an app for my phone called "Call Filter" ( it is the #1 free blocking app) and I put their number in there so hopefully they will now be blocked.....

I just hope there is nothing more they can do.

"Without prejudice" means they *could* try court again, provided it's not out of statute at this point.

First, tell them "No" in no uncertain terms. Refuse to discuss how or why you say no. Then read a new york times article online calleabout a hook called bad paper so that you understand the industry.

I do owe on a Merrick Credit card , I tried on several occasions to make payments and each time there was a reason my payment was not being with drew from my account , I made arrangement with a lady a few weeks back to pay in full once I got my IRS refund and was told to call once I mailed the payment and that I wouldn't be contacted anymore, yet today I receive a call from a VERY RUDE rep who obviously thinks the money that I owe is hers and she yelled over me when I tried to talk and she refused to let me speak to a supervisor HER NAME WAS MICHELLE ., I had to hang up on her, I called right back and asked to speak with her supervisor was put on hold and then after a minute or two was hung up on and then every time I tried to call backl the line wouldn't ring and I would get a recording that sAYS my call can not be completed but then I tried calling from another phone and got through

This number come from Carson Smithfield, when I talked to them about a year or so ago.  I sent them $55.00 and they told me before I sent them the money they informed me that I would have to keep up with my payment because they did not send out payment statements.  True enough I sent them the money until this day I have not received anything from just call everyday.  I have not sent a payment since.

Carson Smithfield - a DEBT COLLECTOR who FAILS by LYING IN hiding their true identify as a DEBT COLLECTOR by calling themselves a FINANCIAL INSTITUTION which is not properly identifying themselves or their intent.

Most states require DEBT COLLECTORS to identify themselves as DEBT COLLECTORS - check your states laws and report them to the FTC if they violate your state rules, this may get them fined and cost them

If they identify the person who they are seeking for the purposes of collecting a debt owed and you are not that person please report that issue as well as they are not allowed by law to discuss a debt with anyone other then the person who has that debt

ADVANTA: I set up a payment plan with about 1.5-2 years ago.  My husband was unemployed for over 5 years so we were just barely able to keep our home and pay the mortgage on one salary. Regardless, I spoke with them and set up this arrangement and my bank account auto-pays them every 4 weeks as per our agreement for a monthly amount slightly more than they requested. I have not missed one single solitary payment with them.  For the 4th or 5th time since we made this agreement to which I have held fast, they are asking for higher and higher monthly payments, even through we both agreed (in writing) to the payment plan we have.  I owe them maybe $800 now. I don't know why they can't stick to their end of the arrangement. I'm going to call them back now because I'm pretty over it.

They call me four or five times a day, so I answered (this was one day last year)  told me how much it would cost me every month $55.00) , but they would not send me a statement.  I would have to keep up with it myself.  So I sent the money and true enough I received no statement.  So I am not sending them another penny until I receive a statement.

I have a good one for you.  I got a call from this number, and when I answered I had a message that said, " Thank you for calling.  Your call will be answered in the order it was received."  Who calls you and puts you on hold?  They still have not told me who they are, or who they were calling.

You didn't pay your bill. Tried to claim
    Fraud.  Explained to
You over and over that they don't send bills because there's nothing happening on your account. No more fees or interest. Nothing to report.  You can request balance letters anytime.   Stop being so rude and listen to what they are telling you.  I worked with them on clearing my credit. They were very helpful  Your not hurting anyone but yourself and your credit report.
