Carson Smithfield, LLC formerly cardworks servicing, debt collector calling for Advanta, calls using an autodialer and a robo message.  Illegal under the TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act)  Each call is a violation.  The first call is $500 and any calls thereafter are trebled to $1500.   Sue them.

    Screwed by Advanta

This is Carson Smithfield as previously stated, same as Cardworks.  They are attempting to collect on an Advanta credit card debt.

I too was royally screwed by Advanta jacking my rate from 7.99% to 34.99%, "just because they could".  This began my downward financial spiral that I am still attempting to recover from years later.  This debt is still unsettled.  At one point, I had an offer from the Advanta rep for 10% of the balance, but was still unable to pay it due to being flat broke at the time.

After speaking to a Carson Smithfield representative, I was informed the LOWEST offer they would entertain was 30% which is now a substantial sum and I am again unable to pay.  I don't understand why they won't settle for 10%-15%, when  Advanta had offered me 10% over 2 years ago and I haven't made any payments since.

Can anyone post on here the settlement rates they are getting from Carson Smithfield.

I was told by my lawyer  not to talk to them AT ALL. If you agree to anything get it in writing, I doubt they will do. If you agree over the phone or send them anything they can come after you for the whole thing. Look at your states  statue of limitations. Check out Getoutofdebtfree.org These guys helped save my sanity and good luck. Watch the move "Thrive" on you tube an eye opener. I have spent 3 years on this stuff. It's all over the internet. But I would check out the getoutdebt thing they have a great forum and are great guys.

This is a debt collector, AGAIN, for someone that had my number previously.  I sooooooooo hate getting calls that are meant for someone else.  You explain to them that you are not the person they are looking for and they REFUSE to believe you and continue to call.  They are pissing me off. No cratch that they have pissed me off.  What can we do?  Ignore is the only option.

Let them know the next time they call they are violating TCPA and FDCPA laws by intentionally harassing a non-debtor and you will take legal action against them if the calls don't stop.

Re: the TCPA violations. I answered one of these calls and they told me they had no mailing address when I asked for it. Finally got one and an attorney sent them a letter telling them to stop calling. The calls continue several times a day - since- they received this letter - from an attorney. A TCPA lawsuit has been filed. Violations keep adding up daily. Look into having an attorney file for TCPA violations. The will do it on contingency so no payment up front.

My husband wants me to answer the phone and  "settle" with them, but I did that once before and without getting everything in writing they are now coming back for the rest, plus years of built up interest.  I am wondering about the possibility of a class action.  They call, then put you on hold, call starting at 7 AM and ending at 9 PM, and don't honor their agreements.

They called me today, never left a message. They call all the time. Sending them a C & D letter never does any good. The only way to stop them is file a law suite. They are a bunch of brainless [***] .  The funny thing is the people they say I owed money to have never heard of me or them. They are nothing but thieving scam artist. They should be convicted and put in jail. They have been calling me non stop for 6 months. How  can they be so dumb and stupid? They have changed their name from CARDWORKS TO something different to try and trick you.
