- ReceptionistI was unable to find the person the caller was wanting to speak with in our global address book. When I informed her I could not find an extension for anyone by that name, she apologized for the inconvience and said to have a great day.

Good luck! - Zipper replies to dragon| 4 repliesThese guys are full of it! This guy BUYS debts from other companies. You may owe the original debt, however, the original debtor has long written off your debt. These guys buy the debt then try to collect. By law you don't owe them a dime!! Your debt was no with them and no one told them to buy your debt. That is a risk they are taking.
- ANonieMouse replies to Zipper| 2 repliesFirst of all, do you realize that you are answering a post that is over SIX YEARS OLD?
Secondly, your legal advice is absolutely horrible. Debts CAN be assigned to a third party. In other words, the right to collect on that debt can usually be assigned to a third party, whereas your obligation to pay is NOT extinguished.
Furthermore, at whatever time your debt becomes uncollectible, you may have to report the amount of uncollectible debt to the IRS as TAXABLE INCOME. See your tax advisor.
Because the right to collect a debt can be assigned freely, the various fair debt collection laws of the federal government and various states are designed to protect you from fakers claiming that you owe them money, when, in fact, you don't. They DON'T exist so that you can skip out of your legitimate debt. Also many states prohibit payday loans to protect you, and most, if not all, advance-fee loans are illegal. So you do get protection. And if you still need a fresh start, you can consult a bankruptcy attorney.
Otherwise -- and I think that by now I can say this without sounding like a shill, as ironic as it sounds -- pay your bills or work them out somehow. - ShillKill replies to ANonieMouse@Zipper -- Bar number please!
@ANonieMouse- No need to apologize for your tone or demeanor, and I think you were too kind in dealing with zipper. This is the perfect for example to anyone reading this thread of why legal advice one gets on the Internet is worth exactly what they paid for this.
@all -- that adage of legal advice on the Net extends beyond unknown calls to things such as real estate, labor law, and tax issues. Just about any law school has a "legal clinic" staffed by third year students with a fire in their belly ready to ply their trade while they bone up for the bar (and supervised by solid attorneys). Given them a call before you listen to someone on the Net - Carol CluneThis individual calls my home repeatedly. I have no debt.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Fatima SulaimanVery rude and harassing, no identity or reference left on my phone
- Rod replies to ANonieMouseMany of these debt collectors purchase debt that is no longer valid. In my state the statue of limitations on credit card debt is 4 years from the last charge made on the account. If the debt is older than that, the debt holder has no legal right to attempt to collect. I work with several people who deal with debt connectors that "own" this zombie debt. Make sure you know your legal rights before discussing the debt with the collector. And in many states, a payment or an agreement to pay is enough to restart the clock, so be aware of that as well.
- Scammer CalledReceived a bogus collections call from this #. Voicemail for a Molly who we do not know and we have had this # for many years.
- Call type: Debt collector
- ID theft victimThey are fraudsters and identity thieves. Don't give them any info. They are being investigated by Florida prosecutor. Google it.
- Smel replies to ray-o-sunshineI don't buy what you are saying, read these complaints.
http://www.callercomplaints.com/SearchResult.aspx?Phone=877-395-3541 - LeeAnnaCall show up in know on my phone. They left a message and this number. They said credit collector. Ask me to call this number back. I am not stupid and the number they called is my cell phone.
I have not received any kind of written correspondence. - Melony SchiesseJason called and immediately launched into a frenzied pitch about some new exotic sex toys his company makes and is selling - "computer-remote control vibrators" and ---. I hung up. He called back a few minutes later and all I heard was "SKANK [***]! -- I slammed down the phone and put the number on call block. That will work until the sleazy company changes numbers. What kind of desperate people are they who call like that ??? It's a shame that their numbers are not being traced to the source and the people running such "businesses" are fined or locked-up. Better yet, get a computer to call them at all hours with a message to shame them - nmot that that would really work -- wishful thinking ...

- No name please, I'm scaredSome guy called and immediately started to yell at me accusing me of being a deadbeat [***] who probably screws her way through life. I hung up. I have call block and that number is in it now. What is going on in this country that allows people like that to exist? I have no obligations to anyone - never have.
- Caller: CCI ?
- Call type: Debt collector
- AnonymousCCI calls all the time. I don't owe anyone any money. Even if I owed money I would not be liable to some debt sweatshop especially one with the bad reputation of CCI. They buy old accounts like you would a mailing list. I presume they are after someone who used to have my phone number so I just ignore them. If they ever sent me anything in the mail however I would send them a cease and desist letter (you can google sample forms) and tell them to shove it.
- Caller: CCI
- Call type: Debt collector
- Margaret replies to Mrs. Ibin SudasDon't mean to be disrespectful. But how stupid can a person be. Never ever give personal info, bank info, etc over the phone to anyone no matter who they are or say that they are. Always ask for verification in writing sent by US mail. If they say they can only send it by email, that should be the 1st red flag that they are scammers. If what you say did happen with your bank account, you can get with your bank and sign an unauthorized debit form to try to recover your money. You might be able to.
- MalThey are not a firm. Its some man sitting in a coffe shop who bought your info from someone. He picks a random name out of a hat and assumes that identity for the day. Then he calls you using a fack name and a fake business cillecting debt. Just say ooooohhh i know who you are dont call me again and hang up. Works everytime for me.
