Just received information about this number from my Grand mother no less...again it was from the Law Offices of Joel Cardis and this time it was a Pittsburgh Based Law Firm...living in the vicinity of Pittsburgh and knowing that the area code this 722...obviously this number is not from Pittsburgh much less PA. The only reason im posting this is because it seems that they are now targeting relatives (especially elderly) to get information. Luckily my Grand Mother is not stupid so she gave them no such information about herself or myself. Just want everyone to know that they are targeting relatives and they should know.

I called this office because I kept getting calls on my cell.  Turns out they are a collections firm - they get phone numbers and accounts from a collection agency.  Apparently someone with a lot of debt had my cell phone number before I got it.  I spoke with a Ms. Thomas at ext. 7108- she was pretty helpful if not in a hurry.  I think she's a manager.  Haven't gotten any calls since.

Their area code is 610 - which is Philly area, clearly in Pennsylvania.  If they leave messages they leave the  toll free number which starts with 877 - which can be used for any business no matter where they're located...Maybe you should pay your bills and then they wouldn't call your family....If you had paid the bill before it went into collections or tried to work with the original creditor you and your grandmother wouldn't be getting calls, would you?

I to have received 2 phone calles from the law office of J Cardis. The first time they talked to my husband and he took there phone number and ext. for me to call back. When I called back I only received an answering machine. Three or four days later they call back and I answer this time. He proceeded to tell me I owed $350  and needed to pay, when I asked him who I owe the money too, I had never heard of this company. I informed him I owe no one money and think that this is a bogus call. I asked him why I had never received anything in the mail about this. He says he did mail me a bill. When asked where he mailed it to he gave me an address in South Carolina I informed him I dont even live on that side of the US. He wanted my address after that, I of course did not give it to him. I told him if he truly had a bill for me then he would know my address. He said he was sorry for bothering me and wouldnt call anymore and would have my name taken off some list.

Just remember all collection agencies do is buy evidence of debt but truly have no in forcible commercial claim with out the consumers expression or implied consent !!   ( I.e making payment arrangements).  So they can't make you pay unless all parties have consent I'll be a payment transfer that must exist for them to collect from you ... so to get your consent they rely heavily on harassment intimidation and deception ...please look up (FDCPA).

    Hard at work
Got a call from 877-444-4655, a man said he was from the Law Office of Joel Cardis, and his name is Barry Klein.  Left a bully message that I had to return his call by 3:00 PM on Monday or else.  Upon further investigation with this Law office found several complaints and no legal right to practice law in CA, as they are not a member of the State Bar.

I've been sick since June 09 and incurred a fair number of bills. I started getting calls from this law firm (Joel Cardis LLC) which went to voicemail as I have been quite ill. I finally talked with the guy that left his name, a Mr. Sims. He was abusive, pushy and very demanding. He claimed I owed $470 some odd dollar for a debt with a medical practice I'd never heard of and have no recollection of visiting ... either that practice or any practice in the same specialty. I asked if he had a Date Of Service so I could verify the debt, That's when he stated he didn't have a DOS and if I wasn't going to make payment arrangements right then and there then we had no more reason to talk ... and hung up on me.

I called him back, explained that I wanted two days to verify the debt and that I would be willing to pay IF it was a valid debt. Again he said that if I wouldn't make arrangements right now then we were done ... and he hung up on me again.

I believe this is a scam as I've checked and there is no practice by that name listed (in Google) and after calling all the local offices with the same specialty to see if they have any record of me being there, they all stated they had no record on me.

I'll be heading over to the FTC site shortly to fill out a complaint against this company as I'm dead-bang positive it's just a scam.

The saga continues. Joel Cardis Law Offices called me back again today. I called back and again got Mr. Sims. Again he hung up on me. After numerous (5) calls back to their office, I finally got a lady on the line who was able to read English. It turns out that Mr. Sims can't read properly. He was giving me a name for a medical specialty, probably the first one that came to mind, and NOT the right one. The lady that cleared it up was able to give me the CORRECT name of the medical firm. She also supplied me with their phone number. I'm still chasing that down as the number she gave me apparently belongs to a private individual, but no return call from her yet (I left a voicemail message).

The short story is, because Mr. Sims cannot read properly and was abusive, rude and continually hung up on me, this turned into a fiasco that didn't need to happen. He needs to find another line of work because he SURE isn't cut out for bill collections.

Deep heavy, muffled male voice talking legal or debt issues. Hard to understand. This was the number on my caller ID, thot I would look it up and sure enough, probably a scam because I don't think one would not say certain things they said in their call. We have no debt or legal issues, by the way.

    Collection Agency Joke
Had some guy call to supposedly collect a debt. He had left a message with me previously, about a month ago since it the collection wasn't for me. Called again today and said that apparently no one would get back to him regarding the matter and before I could even say anything hung up the phone on me. Wow! what a  nice.. professional..way to manage a "collection agency". What a freakin joke.

ALWAYS get any settlement in writing! What they did to you is a common tactic with the more unscrupulous debt collection companies. Never pay a dime towards a settlement offer until you have a letter detailing the settlement offer. Also check the age of the debt. All states have a statute of limitations on debt. You could very well pay on a debt that has legally expired. Check your state's statute of limitations time limit. Once you have reached your states statute of limitation, the debt collector can legally ask you to pay, but they can no longer take you to civil court.
