have been receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be from the law offices of Joel Cardis.  This is supposedly/allegedly about a debt that had been referred to their office; a false debt; a debt that doesn't exist.  Never answered the phone.  It was more than obvious that the person (a male) calling was reading from a script of some sort, stumbling all over his words.  The message is that there is a case against me in the county courthouse and that the judge had said to get this matter resolved to avoid going to jail; a certain amount of money had to be paid to this fake law firm before the case was to be heard.  They are not just using a 1-888 number - they are using a 610 area code as well.  This person is attempting multi-state wire fraud; obtaining monies, goods, services, property under false pretenses, communication of threats, which is a FELONY and is punishable under law for a fine up to $10,000 and up to 10 years in prison.  DO NOT TALK WITH THESE PEOPLE - THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS - STAY AWAY FROM THEM.  SAVE THE NUMBER AND RECORD THE VOICEMAIL MESSAGE AND REPORT THEM TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMISSION.

Mr Gambone called after a personal matter. Even though I blocked them they still left a message.  Sounds like a drone.  Total scam.  Don't answer these calls!!!

After reading many of these posts I thought, if it was legitimate, there should be a website but haven't found one. Besides, I have never heard of a law firm being a collections business. Have received calls from 2 phone numbers 610-239-7147 and 610-382-3151.

Known debt scammer.  Did he leave a message?  If so, then he is now required by law to do this:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

At which time if and when you receive that letter, you must do this:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

They are acting as legal lawyer bill collectors.   They have done nothing but bought off debt.  If you receive nothing in the mail block their many numbers.  They have called for our dUghter 3 X.  She worked out the debt w local hospital paid them...." So I wish I could stop them but they move move all over the place.  Different number may 20, it's June 1 same year. Already changed.   Sorry zip code gives them away.   Foolsive told them her cell but keep calling here.  Haven't called her once...

You got swindled. You probably did not owe that money legally, although the debt legally existed. I imagine it was for a medical bill and that law office doesn't have any records of your health information. I used to work there. This is a scam. Do not believe what they say.

Getting threatening calls from this number...About a debt I don't owe. Asked them to stop calling and the guy got ugly with me.

Just got a call from the 610 number.  Stated it was Joel Cardis on caller ID.  Did not pick up.  Message said it was important to call back before debt went to collectielse.  Sounded like the caller was bored and trading from a script.   Bills all up to date......no back debts.   No letters in the past so I am glad I googled before I did anything else.
