https://complaintwire.org/complaints/debt-collectors
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- T replies to BigAThanks I am so tired of this
- T replies to T| 5 repliesAlso called my husband my sister my mom and my sons
- Janet Postolka| 1 replyI want them to stop calling here. They are becoming a harassment!
- Caller: BRG
- BigA replies to T| 4 repliesThey call family, friends, and neighbors to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. - T replies to BigA| 3 repliesLawyer says they look legit want to charge me 350.00
- BigA replies to T| 2 repliesGet a new lawyer. Who wants to charge you $350.00 the lawyer or these crooks at BRG? The lawyer should have told you everything I did. If he/she didn't like I said you need a new lawyer, one that knows collection and credit laws.
- T replies to BigAJust going to do it myself I already printed the letters now just have to get the right address the one the gave is different from the one you gave
- CWG40 replies to Janet PostolkaInvest in a call blocker and do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.
Also you can send them a cease and desist letter.
Cease and Desist Templates
http://thompsonhall.com/cease-desist-letter-template-example-sample-forms/ This should be sent US mail, return receipt requested.
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them. Tell 'em no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking). the only thing they understand.

They continue to bother you you'd have a cause of action against them under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You'd need legal assistance at that point. - toby| 1 replyRobocalled a number of times asking for a "Brian Carroll" (ph) and stating it's an important matter and that I should call 877-524-8775 even if I don't know the guy and added the implied threat that if I don't the law allows them to contact anyone in their reference files. Lord only knows why they are really calling. The number however, is in the voice message; my caller ID shows "no name received" and the calling phone number field is blank, so whatever number they are calling from cannot be blocked, at least by my old phone blocker. This same message has come through on calls that show "no name received" and the calling number as 877-504-4825. They never say who they are or who they represent.
Don't know who Brian Carroll is, but I wouldn't help these creeps find him even if I did. - BigA replies to tobyIf you read the informative posts up there you will learn what you need to know to stop this.
- T replies to BigAThe lawyer wants to charge me
- TSo I called BRG back still refused to give me any information on the debt then told me it was in dispute and classified from me the person who owes the debt and that they sent it back to the creditor. I never disputed it just wanted more information. I have their address I am still going to send a letter with no account number or amount owed so annoying.

- nemesisMy wife has received 2 calls from this number. Left a message instructing me to "press 0" or call them or the law would allow them to call other people to look for me. This is obviously scam and some my relatives have received similar calls in the past.... I am a federal employee and the only way they could have gotten these numbers (all unlisted) is from a security questionnaire I filled out several years ago.

- D| 1 replyLady called and left message saying she was with the location and tracing efforts, also stated that by law she could call all references to try to confirm my location. I called back and told her I was not willing to verify any I told her I did not owe anyone. These calls have been going on for over one year and they have yet to send me anything by mail.
