Received a  message saying from Americollect.  Said to visit online at americollectpay.com.  Didn't ask for a specific name.  Just stated if I've gotten the wrong person to call back and let them know.  Caller ID came up as 708-251-0695

I just got this call too.  No name was given, and I do not have any outstanding debt.

I received a call as well to call Elizabeth and I have no outstanding debt.  Call came from 855-813-9739 but told to call 877-563-5739.   Also said I should call if I am the wrong person.  "Elizabeth" never said who the debt was for.

They called didn't mention my name. I happen to call them back provided my phone # that they called Me back at. Then they told me they were looking for a different person. I just let them know wrong number.

The message left calling from Americacollectpay, asking me to call back at 877-563-5739 with their Collector ID 1889.  The message doesn't mention which Company is collecting from

I received a message just now from "Hey, this is Hailey from Americollectpay ID# 1889" and to call the 877-563-5739 and to call back between 7am and 11pm. Number from 920-249-8070. No name of who collecting debt from and to call back if this is the wrong person. Not calling back.

I received the exact same identical message Word for Word from a Haley from americollect saying she was calling to collect a debt and to call back.She also never said the name that she was calling for.

I got a call too,. started with "Hey this is ___"  WOW, that's unprofessional. Also did not ask for a persons name, no reference #,...
Really, do they think someone will call them if they have no idea who they want or what it's about.

Message from (inaudible), ID #1849 a debt collector from Americollect. She said she's in the office M-F from 7am-11pm and S 8-5 and to please feel free to give her a call if she has the wrong number (or go online). Didn't say what the debt was for and never used my name. I may call back an give all of my dog's date (DOB, etc) and see what they say.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I received this exact same message.  Sounded like her name was Joy.  I did try calling back from a land line (call came in on my cell).  Caller ID said she was calling from 920.249.8070, she said call back to 877.563.5739, and when I did, it clicked off immediately....which is why I'm checking if it's a scam.

Have got three calls form 3 different people. Husband erased 2 of the messages. Still have the one from Elizabeth ID1912. Definitely scripted cause it reads exactly like what others have said they got. Never give who debt is with or name given for the debt. We have no debts. Not calling back. Perhaps number belonged to someone else before we got it since it is a landline. Contacting the FCC.

Americollect debt collectio agency. Called and left a message.

Same as Haley thank God I looked it up first. No name of where debt was from. Also the first call was from Tessa next from Catherine same id 1886.

Received call several times for Catherine at Americollect regarding a debt. I have no debts. She doesn't give a name of anything and says to call back if it's wrong #. SCAM???

They also called me and didn’t say a name of the person who has to pay the debt  . Also she said that I can chat with her online and that her name is Elizabeth. She called me from a different number and told me to call another number , the one that everyone talks about . Is it a scam ?

Just received my 4th call from AmeriCollect. First one about a month ago went to voicemail with same message everyone else got. Called again the next day and I answered as I intended to let them know they had the wrong number. Well she did know my name and said I had a debt of $521 and how would I like to pay that...Yeah right! When I asked what the debt was for she informed me it was an unpaid medical bill for a minor child and if I verified my child’s birthdate she could give me more info. Obviously, I refused. Told her I had no outstanding medical debt and to send me something in the mail. She said they had but the letters were returned and if I verify my address they would resend. Obviously refused again. Kept insisting she couldn’t give me any info until I gave them my address and child’s birthdate!

Just spoke to them again and once again they are expecting me to give them my personal info so they can “verify” they’re talking to the right person! I told her that was never going to happen!

No idea if this is an actual debt collector but I know we do not have any outstanding debt and to my knowledge, they are responsible for verifying the that a debt is valid! Also, said they were a Wisconsin based company but the caller id came up as a number local to me...I do not live in Wisconsin! Seems pretty sketchy right there!
