What company do you use to monitor your credit if you don't mind me asking? I just found out that my parents home and my mom's cell have been getting these calls. I owe a fair bit of money because I was young and dumb, but they shouldn't be bothering them for money I owe. I'd also like help trying to find all my creditors in order to pay back and be debt free.

DCA which I don't knowm  of,  calls too often asking for Dominic (can't catch family names which sound like Laramée or Lemay or ???).  I know any Dominic.  Hope those calls will stop soon.

They are claiming I owe over $500 to an unpaid Bell account opened in 2003. I have never been a Bell customer or been associated with Bell.

I called the number and spoke to my "case agent" who went on to explain that if I did not pay this outstanding amount that they will garnish my wages and collect. She refused to listen when I explained that this isn't my debt and pushing very hard for me to pay the amount on my credit card. I of course did not.

I contacted Bell's Residential Fraud and Prevention Team who confirmed that I have never been a customer or have an outstanding balance.

I also contacted Equifax and TransUnion who also confirmed that I have no debts owing.

This company has been harassing my home and now cell phone with phone calls for a debt I am in no way associated with and is also refusing to correct their system to prevent this from happening.

There are guidelines that collection agencies must follow. DCA is not:

I Feel I'm Being Treated Unfairly by a Collection Agency

While rules vary across Canada, generally collection agencies are forbidden from doing the following:
•Trying to collect a debt without first notifying you in writing or making a reasonable attempt to do so.
•Recommending or starting legal or court action to collect a debt without first notifying you.
•Communicating with you or your family such that the communication amounts to harassment, or calling to collect a debt at certain prohibited times (which vary from one province or territory to another).
•Implying or giving false or misleading information to anyone.
•Communicating or attempting to communicate with you without identifying themselves, saying who is owed the money and stating the amount owed.
•Continuing to demand payment from a person who claims not to owe the money, unless the agency first takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the person does, in fact, owe the money.
•Contacting your friends, employer, relatives or neighbours for information, other than to get your telephone number or address. An exce ption would be if any of these people have guaranteed the debt or if you have asked the agency to contact them to discuss the debt or, in the case of your employer, to confirm your employment, your job title and your work address.

Something similar here. I don't owe anything to Bell. They confirmed it too. Bell admitted that I don't owe them anything, but this people keep saying that REGARDLESS OF WHAT BELL SAYS, if I don't give money to them (the collector) they will continue harassing me.

This makes the collector an illegal extortioner = a criminal. DO NOT support crime. DO NOT give them any money. Once you give something to an extortioner, they will come back for more.

As mike pointed out,  it is spelled can't.  and before you correct jane's spelling  you should seriously correct your own.  The correct way to write "your comment" is ...   * You own your own company but can't spell debt".  *

If I owe anything to Bell. It must of been 20 years ago. I haven't had a CA call me in years. Really hate when they take time out of my busy day to try to steal money from me on a bogus bill

It happens when using talk to text or auto correct, it happens to a lot of people. No need to be rude

These idiots keep calling my senior mother's prepaid cell phone looking for someone with a completely different name. The calls started as shortly after the phone was activated on Telus. It is costing her money every time they leave a voice mail.

For those people who constantly ask "How to I stop these calls?"  Seems there is only 1 way to stop them. Get yourself a phone with the option to block callers. The landline/phones are easy to buy now..  poof; caller blocked. They soon give up.  They call from another computer a few days later poof; block them again.  I've just had 6 months of no spam callers.. until today. Here we go again,  877 607 8957 blocked!
And yes, my numbers are registered on The National Do Not Call List. For years. This is a Govt website.. but these spammer bozo's just change their numbers, over and over.

Got a couple of calls from some "female" about a Rogers bill from way back.  Never ever had a rogers account. Anyway the second time shee said she would garnishee my wages.  My reply was to ask her whether she masturbated with a [***] or did she prefer some woman's fingers.  Guess what she hung up.

if u actually call this number back it is chase financial in San fransisco and they said they get calls all the time from ppl saying they are returning a message and they don't know why.

Why did my auto correct write scary... I wrote DCA

Well I actually did call the number in question and someone answered as DCA. So don't believe Moms post above about it being CitiFinancial in San Francisco.

Called this number as well, People were very unprofessional, they could not even transfer a phone call... eventually spoke to Janice, said she wouldnt give me information on why she was calling, unless I verified my details, She said it was like calling a bank`except it isn`t , they are NOT a bank!!! Tried asking for info from her and she just hung up.  So Beware!!!  also used a 905-235 6544 number to call my work.  REPORT REPORT REPORT these guys , if they are legit they need better buisness practice.  

"You own "you" own company." Perhaps if you wish to poke fun at others you should at least try to also spell your words correctly with proper grammar.
