    STRAIGHT FROM SPRINT/NEXTEL>>>

"PLEASE BE AWARE...  Sprint/Nextel will only contact for promotions if you have not opted to be placed on our Do Not Call List.  You can always call customer service and ask that you be excluded from any promotional offers.  Additionally, Sprint/Nextel only promotes via text or US mail.  We do not currently sell promotions via telemarketing.

Secondly, the number (877) 671-1851, and many others that are often disguising themselves as "toll-free" numbers are nothing but thieves and scammers.  If someone calls you from this number, DO NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE.  In the rare occassion in which one of these scammers actually leaves you a voice mail, DO NOT REPLY.  Please delete their message.
Acknowledgement of any unknown call is often bad, as it confirms to auto-dialers and scammers that your number is a valid one, and you may very likely continue to be harassed in the future by them.

In the event that you do answer your phone, absolutely under no circumstances should you ever give out any personal information, such as PIN numbers, Social Security numbers, or any other information that a scammer/identity thief may use to access your cellular phone account, or worse.
As always, we appreciate your business and strive to keep our phone records from becoming exploited.  We do NOT sell phone numbers or "lists".  Feel free to report any unwanted calls to Sprint's Customer Service, easily accessed from any Sprint cellular phone by pressing "*2".  We continue to fight against these scammers that pose as Sprint Representatives on a regular basis.  Thank you for contacting Sprint/Nextel about this matter, and thank your for your business."

Ok guys, so with that said... PAY ATTENTION, THERE ARE SCAMMERS ALL AROUND US!
If you don't recognize a caller's number, or it comes up as "Restricted", no matter how tempting it may be, DON'T ANSWER IT!
Important callers will typically leave you a voice mail.  They will certainly never ask you for any personal information.  If a person can't/won't leave you a a voice mail message, then IT ISN'T IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!

I've had Sprint for decades.  They work fine, and my monthly bills are basically the same as you will get with any other cellular phone provider.  Yes, they are ALL expensive as hell, and YES, in some areas, Sprint is NOT the best carrier to be with.  For example, where I live, Verizon has the "curb" on the market in my area.  Best coverage.  But, in your area????  I have NO IDEA.  Check out the "regions" of service area coverage BEFORE you sign up for a CONTRACT with ANY cellular service provider.

DUH - IT AIN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! - WAKE UP PEOPLE!  This isn't anything new.

I got call from sprint- didn't leave voice message, but may have left text message. Be careful, especially if plan charges extra for text messages. How do you like that- get dinged 75c or so for unwanted sales call.

I don't understand why they must call at 830 pm when my baby is sleeping!! Why not call during normal business hours? I get up at 330 am for work and try to be in bed around 830. This is really annoying

I get calls from Sprint sporadically here and there.  Right now the frequency of the calls might be due to the fact that I've reached the first anniversary mark of a two year contract.

I'm sure they want me to sign up/upgrade my service plan and the like.  I don't need Sprint calling me unless there was an issue with my service or if there was some security breach that I need to know about.  I've had Sprint since 2002 and the service has been largely trouble free.

Until Sprint decides to become a part of the iPhone family, I am considering porting my number over to another carrier after next year.  None of their own data plans or special phones appeal to me.

Jeez you people fly off the handle at the stupidest crap.  Just don't answer, and then call the number back.  You hear a recording from Sprint/Nextel about adding a new line.  It then asks you to press '5' if you're interested, or '6' if you're not.

You don't have to speak to anyone, nobody asks for your PIN, and they never call you again.  And yes, I called Sprint Customer Service and they verified that it IS them calling from that number. All these people posting above saying that's not are just scare-mongers.

Seriously, calm the heck down.  Comparing telemarketers to drug dealers and prostitutes?  Really??  JFC...

I called back, it was Sprint asking if I would like to add a "line of service", press 5, if not, then press 6. Simple.

Same thing got a call earlier today from this number. Hubby has just gone in for support and then had to call because they closed the local service center. It's a courtesy call to see if the reason you'd called/visited them was resolved. But they call the primary number on the account not the one that may have actually had the problems.

If you use Sprint's website for your account you can remove your number from how they can contact you. That way they can't call you for promotions and such. It doesn't stop them from calling like this but if you only have to contact them when something goes wrong then you shouldn't get that many calls.

If you have Sprint and have upgraded or made any other changes to your service they will call you.  They will also call you from time to time regarding specials. Just call back and ask to be taken off the list. It's not that big of a deal.
