I made an international wire transfer with chase.com. About an hour later, I receieved a call from a number, but I couldn't pick up. The voicemail was a woman telling me she was calling from JP Morgan and Chase, and to call her back at 1 877 691 8086 option 3 in regard to my recent transaction.
I called chase customer service on the back of my credit card, and the representative told me that it was a phishing call, and chase would never make a call or leave a voice mail like that, especially without providing any information about my "recent transaction".
She gave me this email address to report the number and details : abuse@chase.com

I received a voicemail saying to call this number.  I was suspicious as most others are and found lots of confusing info online.  I called the number on my Chase app and they confirmed this number is their fraud department and they transferred me.  The man who helped me had obviously heard this suspicion before and suggested I call the regular number and get transferred if I was not comfortable calling directly.  I told him I did just that.  He was aware of a large transaction I made and confirmed it for me after I confirmed who I was.  If I had not called, the transaction would have been reversed and my online account would have been locked.  Do not ignore the phone call if you made a large transaction as you will need to call anyway and go through more rigorous screening.  I informed both of the reps that the call was suspicious and not what I would have expected as communication from Chase regarding an unusual transaction.  They agreed and said they would forward my concerns to management to fix it.  Hopefully Chase grows up and realizes the dumb system they have in place to deal with an occasional large transaction.  I have the app and got no message, email or alert about a hold on the transaction.  I would have responded to those quickly, but this call was not what I expected and thus the fraud suspicion.  I also sent the voicemail transcription to Chase abuse@chase.com to see what they say.  They have been getting these complaints for 11 years at least and still have not figured out how to do it right.  Maybe my complaints will do no better.  Re: claims of scams, it seems most are calling scam before confirming whether it is Chase or not so they are not helpful.  Others have received mixed messages from Chase regarding the validity of the number.  Again, poor management by Chase.  Good luck and start with basic customer service number and get transferred.  It's the safest way.

I should clarify my posting above, the number that called me was a 312 area code number, Chicago, and the voicemail says to call the 877 691-8086 number, which is real.  I was not called by the 877 number.  That may be the scam.  Someone is impersonating the real number and hoping for account info by impersonating Chase.

THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM!!!!! I just got off the phone with CHASE! I verified with them, if this were to be an actual issue, they would have sent me an email, notifying me to LOG INTO my Chase account, and see the message left for me there in my messages. ANY COMMENTS HERE that say to the contrary, are from the scammers trying to STEAL YOUR MONEY

Chase harassed my parents during the COVID crisis. We initially thought this was a phishing scam due to the poor communication and aggressiveness from the Chase fraud department. This is indeed a valid number.

They closed my parents account suddenly causing them to miss social security checks, the government stimulus check, and causing my dad to leave his house to go the local branch. He had not left the house for 6 weeks due to COVID, but he really needed to verify this was a real number calling him.

More importantly, there doesn't seem to be an attempt from the Chase fraud department to find out and/or inform us who was attempting to defraud my parents. This phone number has a 50 minute wait when I try to call them back 18776918086. Shame on Chase. I am cancelling my own accounts and I would recommend the same to anyone else especially the elderly.

It wasn't a call, by a notice in the mail that had this number on it. I've got a reloadable debit card thru Chase but it doesn't end with the digits on the letter. It gives such a weird availability time, from 7am to 1am Eastern time.

This is a Chase number.  I tried to log into Chase via App and online and was shown this number on BOTH to call and verify a large transfer I made.

E=mail said I owed 299.99 for renewal of Norton anti-virus, and would debit my account. I had program with lifetime program, no renewal. I called number on e-mail and even though I thought I could spot fraud, because he said he was a Norton rep and so professional, I fell for it, and he supposedly arranged for a credit of $300.00. Dumbly I let him remotely access my computer. Next thing I saw a credit for $3,000 - oops he said he made a mistake and to send $2500  to him (Robert Peterson).  Thankfully, before $2500 was transferred to him, Chase stopped it -saved the day., and gave me Chase number to call. They called me back and straightened everything out. Hooray for Chase
