Chase 100% ...I did a wire transfer from my chase savings account to a credit union savings account and within an hour they called me.  It was the 1st time I did a transfer of over $1000 to an external account.  You do have to provide information so they can confirm who you are..I'm glad they perform a service like this.

Even if you were to get scammed Chase has fraud protection which will pay you back any money you lost up to a pretty substanial amount.

You're paranoid.  Chase will call you to comfirm any wire transfer of substantial size.  It's called fraud protection.  If you do your homework you will discover that it's a legit number.  You have to provide your own information for your own protection.  If you're that skepitcal go to your local branch and figuer it out otherwise your money will not be transfered where you need it to go.  And Chase is not a lousy bank, I've had them for over ten years and they are always willing to work with me when needed.

I do not do business with Chase.  HOW do I have a transaction to verify?

A rep called me from this number, she asked for the last 8 digits of my debit card and said they needed to verify a recent online transfer. She said I needed to put my FULL debit card number and PIN in their automated system. Obviously, I said "No way!" and she told me she could give me their main number (why would I trust that?!) or I could call the number on the back of my debit card. I hung up and called Chase (number on the back of my credit card) and told them what was going on. The Chase rep said that Chase had not called me, so it was a FRAUDULENT call. The crazy thing is, they knew I had a Chase account, they obviously knew my phone number and they knew that I'd just completed an online transfer (a wire transfer, to be exact)... How would they have this information? I makes me concerned for the data security at Chase.

Well, that's not true at all, because I just called Chase, and they said it was absolutely their loss prevention number. Get your facts straight.

Obviously you didn't call chase, because if you did, they would have told you that it was a completely legitimate call.

Accessed internet account info and received screen that account was compromised and to call the 8086 number. Called Chase through general account access contact number and validated status of accounts. Indicated account was flagged by security. Chase verified that the 8086 number is the security department. Upshot, someone had tried to access my account and answer security questions. System locked internet access down. Have to go to a Chase office with ID to reactivate internet access to account information.

My on line account was suspended, and the number the chase website listed was 877-691-8086 to call.  I agree, you never know because numbers can be spoofed.   Always hangup and call the number on your card if you are unsure.  It my case, I already new what the call was about because I moved money from a bank account I had never used before.

After initiating some transfers I got a call from this number. The guy wasn't able to verify who he was satisfactorially to me so I didn't give him any info. He told me he would have to put the transfers on hold. Now, when logging onto my Chase.com account I just got the following message (from url: https://chaseonline.chase.com/Public/Error.as ... us&LOB=RBGLogon):
We're sorry - we suspended your access to chase.com because of recent activity on your account. To re-activate your access, please call us at 1-877-691-8086 and choose option 3. If you are outside the U.S., please call us at 1-713-427-6380. Commercial customers please contact your Client Service Professional or Client Service Officer.

This makes me think this number is legit. I am about to call it now to reactivate my online banking.

after making a heavy wire transfer 15k to my brothers account i had a call from this number. she told me that i will be sent to an automated voice caller or something and that she will input my card number and my name for me and all i have to do is type my exp date and password also the 3 digit numbers on the back.
after the call i got really suspicious. because i never heard that a bank would ever ask me to do so and give them my 3 digits on the back.
i called this 1-800-432-3117 (stated in their webiste (https://www.chase.com/credit-cards/customer-service) ( i had a debt card so i got transferred again since i called the credit card line)
so after i called customer service and told them everything and i even provided the phone number they used. he called the Loss prevention thing and he confirmed it was them.
also i had to do the same thing over again and i asked her about the call that i got and she confirmed that it was them.

i still have my doubts....... :\

The person called saying they were from Chase and wanted to verify a recent account transaction.  They said I would need to give my debit card number to verify my account.  When I told the lady I would not give that information over the phone shed told me to call the number on the back of my card to contact Chase directly.  When I called Chase the representative said they would never ask for that information over the phone. It was a SCAM!!!
