this is a chase bank fraud dept phone number. if you have written a large check or wire transfer in the last week, then no worries.

all the idiots saying fraud are morons...it's better to be safe than stupid, but raising red flags that are not needed is stupid...had me second guessing for no reason.

This is valid.  Called to verify a check that I had given to my landlord because she had failed to put her name in the "Pay to the order of" spot.  I am glad the called to verify but I was skeptical at first.

It's not fraudulent. I checked with a branch and the 877-691-8086 number is in fact Chase. They use debit card number/PIN number to verify people.

I got a call from a man who called himself Jesse, from Chase Loss Prevention. He omitted one digit of the telephone number he said I needed to call to keep them from possibly stopping payment on a check. So I looked on line and got the number above. I saw I have no account ending in the four numbers he gave. but I called the number and was told by their recording that I'd have to wait 15 minutes. I did not. I think it was a scam.

Wow, amazing how many stupid people post that this number is fraud when it's not at all, it's a completely legit Chase loss prevention number. I called my Chase bank rep immediately to verify and they told me it was their loss prevention dept and totally legit.  Yes they ask a lot of specific questions and I thank them for that because any basic info on anyone can be obtained online and then questions asked against that info. So happy that Chase is watching my back and my accounts. Thanks.

I had a call from the same number. Took the suggestion to call back the number on my debit card and they transferred me to the fraud provention department and the said that there WAS NO ISSUE and that the 877 number was not CHASE. They use 800 numbers only.

Same experience.  So I called back # on the back on my card.  They transferred me.  Wasn't a scam (yay).

BUT...it sure seems like one.  So just to be on the safe side, call the # on the back of your card when in doubt.

Not sure who's writing on the board that its a scam.  Bored web surfers, lol?

I agree with JR from 12 January 2011, a week ago  Chase sent me an email to update my debit card, it look legit, so I put my info in, twice, lucky for me my computer had blocked my banking info for me. I asked my son did he get the same info, he said No, then I called Chase they put a block on my online banking. I had to start over again with Chase in getting new account #'s, but like they said "the scammers and phishings are getting good " I had printed the email and the website of Chase and show it them. Chase said they didn't send that. I receive a letter from Chase yesterday, it looked like it was copied, I called them and she said they can investigated it further, but she wanted my SS #. I didn't give it to her but  now I wonder if all these people from other lands that take our info over on the phone if they are not part of scammers and phishing. It something that people needs to be thinking about before they give out their banking infoover on the phone or mail that send to you.

Got a call from this number and called local chase bank branch to verify the legitimacy of the number.  It IS a internal chase number.  IT IS NOT A SCAM.  You should call and try to verify the number before calling it a scam.

    You who
If your not handicapped, go into your local chase bank and inquire. There is too much fraud going on in this country with 800 numbers.  Most of them related to internet crimes, social media, and p.o. boxes.

If you can't go into your bank to see if your accounts are okay. Call your police department to do it for you.

only the account administrators and staff know what is really going on with their accounts.

If it's a business account, your paperwork had to be presented to the bank before you established your accounts.

I wouldn't trust the internet for anything. Cell phones etc.

This number 877-691-8086 is NOT listed on Chase's website  https://www.chase.com/online/services/phone-numbers.htm  as a legit contact number so DO NOT call this number if you need to contact Chase. Like all banks, Chase tells its customers to call legit Chase numbers from TRUSTED SOURCES (back of card, account statement, website, phone book) and NEVER FROM UNTRUSTED SOURCES like 800notes. There is NO PROOF that 877-691-8086 is a legit Chase number except for allegations from anonymous postings on an anonymous forum like 800notes. Allegations are not proof. Only SCAMMERS want you to call FAKE-Chase numbers and give away your personal and account info.

Got a call from this number, I let it go to voicemail.  It sounded shady, I refused to call it back.  I then called Chase from the number on my card, there is nothing going on with my account.  I'm glad I listened to my gut feeling and didn't pick up, or return their call.  Don't risk it, just call the number on your card instead.  If its really something going on with your account, you'll know for sure you've called from a safe number to deal with it.

You should be skeptical, this number is a SCAMMER pretending to be Chase bank.
You are supposed to call them up and give away your account and personal info so the SCAMMERS can steal your money and ID.

Ummmm... YES, it's fraudulent. Both the real Chase Bank and SCAMMER-pretending-to-be-Chase reps will ask for customer identification when customers call. That's why Chase customers must make sure to call the real Chase Bank and NEVER call the SCAMMERS on SCAMMER numbers like this one.
