- jonmic1 replies to MellisaDon't be scared. It will work out. We have too many options on our side. And of course they can not put you in jail. That stopped back in 1850's when there were debtors prisons.
- jonmic1I recived a call fro mmy apt. manager .Some lady called and told himthat she has a civil matter to talk over with me. When I callled back I asked her why she called my manager. She just laughed and said she knew it would get me mad.

- Mercy| 2 repliesI received a phone call from a "Desiree" or some name like this. The speech was slurred. She left a message stating that she has to talk to me immediately about an issue that I am not aware of but she has to go to court to settle. Please call her before 1pm / then 3 pm / then 4:30pm to make arrangements. I listened to the message a couple of times to make certain that she did state that this was a matter that "I did not know about". I thought that was odd. She stated that she got my number from a list of numbers and has called my parents line as well as my own. This was today. We are not in the habit of answering Unknown or Private / Unlisted numbers. A third party answered the line and now the calls will not cease to my parent home.
If this is an attempt to collect a debt, I am unaware of what it could be. As this is an issue of which I am unaware, I remain at this moment at a loss of words.- Caller: GLR Group
- old womanI told them that the person they are persuing had already been reported to FBI and that the FBI put them in Jail and still the phone jock interrupted me constantly. The total truth.

- someone's Mom| 1 replyI just got a call from a Robert from GLR saying that he had gotten our number as a point of contact from our daughter, who he's trying to contact because of a time senstive matter. She's not given out our number to anyone as a point of contact except as an emergency number when she was working so I decided to look up GLR an found out all this interesting stuff about them. It sounds to me that it would do no good for me to call them an tell them I do not know where she's at right now since she left her jerk of a husband, she does call once in a blue moon to let us know she's okay but I have no number or address for her an if I did I'm not giving it out. I guess the best thing to do is just tell them what I can an then tell them to remove my phone number an not call again, if they don't then will have to report them I don't need this from some other Jerk.

- JoshHA, I got a call today from "Robert". He'd been calling my house and said he has investigators out trying to serve me. That they would be calling my jobs to get information and that they'd garnish my wages.
I don't think that it's legal for them to just garnish your wages because if they could, there'd be no debt. Everyone would pay it or have it taken from them, simple as that. But these guys are tricky. The [***] was talking so damn fast on the phone I wanted to punch the [***] in the throat.
If felt scammish because all of the associates sounded like high-school/college kids trying to act professional. But when the vocabulary and tone went from telemarketer to lunchtime fight....I got the picture. Looks like most of you have to.

- pistcalled and harrassed me through my family members telling them i had a court date when i hadn't gotten served or anything. and calling regarding my parents house when i don't even own it.
- ceecee replies to Disappointed| 1 replyhey i got the same phone calls with threats of being taking to court, only they called my family and told them about it and they were the ones who then told me about the threats. when i called and spoke to the manager he denied it. so did they ever serve you for court????
- Jen replies to FYIThey may be able to try to collect on a debt, but why do they threaten lawsuits and jail? These are not options for these debt collectors...oh wait...they claim to be "officers of the law" or attorneys. They are lying to people and using any means they can think of to scare people into thinking they will be thrown into jail. If they are going to collect on these debts they should do it the correct way and send the necessary paperwork and validate these debts. Which it seems, because they have bought them from a bank or credit card company, they do not have these original debt papers. Sometimes these 3rd party debt collects are calling the wrong people but won't believe them or even listen to them. I have heard stories of collectors calling about dead relatives and will call and call and call...not willing to accept the fact that these folks are dead!
Most people are not trying to get out of paying, they just want to do it the correct way and not be harrassed by people. And I'm pretty sure most of us do not like to give out personal information over the phone...so they should quit asking for it, please. - BradThis guy doesn't even have the guts to use the 877 697 7237 number. He calls from a "private" number. My mom called me with the 877 number because he called her and started bothering her. Collection companies are scum. I understand I have a debt to pay and I'm willing to do that. I won't go about it dealing with this clown. This is company that picks up junk debt that no one else can collect on and tries to strong arm people into paying.

- SUED replies to Tina| 3 repliesI did and they got me at my job! It came from a process server but it was from the Stepp Law Office in Irvine. It shows a Tom Stepp as the attorney that filed the suit but he was retained by GL Group
- Michael Ayles replies to SUED| 2 repliesDid they notify you to let you know you were going to be sued? Did they give you a chance to atleast pay it back before they "sue" you?
- C.B.T. replies to Mercy| 1 replyI got a call from Desiree at GLR Group last week...and I paid $1,500 for an unpaid credit card balance that was $800. Was this legitimate? I had no idea about asking for a "debt validation" before paying...I should have looked this info up before paying but she scared me so badly I was crying by the end of the call.
The debt she mentioned was from U.S. Bank, and I was aware of it...I knew what she was talking about. She really scared me telling me that she would have to place judgment on me if I did not pay the balance in full.
Can anyone provide a website with more data on GLR Group? Why is there none? Do you think I was scammed??? Or do you think I'm finally paid my debt?
I'm just so confused!!
P.S.
She also told me, "I don't know if you know what's happening, you probably don't, but we'll be forced to place judgment on you on behalf of U.S. Bank if you don't pay the balance in full..." - C.B.T.| 5 repliesI got a call from Desiree at GLR Group last week...and I paid $1,500 for an unpaid credit card balance that was $800.
