The point you are missing is DLG is NOT LICENSED to practise law in homeowners' states and hence "You are paying for a lawyer to do work for you" is FALSE. DLG CANNOT be your lawyer because DLG is NOT LICENSED to practice law in your state. Why should homeowners pay attorney $rates for a non-attorney mortgage modification?

Re. "Charging for services is not predatory, companies charge for services, that is how they run and make money", DLG can charge for mortgage mod services like any non-attorney but NOT UP FRONT (you left this out, didn't you?). The MARS rule considers DLG to be a "non-attorney" for the purpose of payment because DLG is not licensed to practise law in homeowners' states. DLG must follow the MARS payment rule for non-attorneys which is NO PAYMENT UNTIL THE MOD IS DONE regardless of how many moving parts a mod has or how long it takes. I was reading your post here. I signed a contract with them also back in Feb. They did the same thing to me, however, I cancelled my contract with them when I realized I could work directly with my lender.  I paid them $1950 and they did refund $975 of that becuase they sent incorrect information to my lender.  They did just deny me the other $975 stating they charge for their services.  I was not sure where to file the compalint against them, but it appears you have done an awesome job.  I am not sure where to go from here. Also file a complaint with the BBB by clicking on the complaint link on Danielson's BBB report here http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/loan ... per-ut-22293671 with B- rating and 19 complaints. We need to knock that down to a F=FAIL rating as fast as we can and the only way to do that is to file complaints. The BBB only accepts complaints from people who have used the business and who have had a bad experience -- that's you.

Calm down. On 5 Apr when Joe posted, DLG probably had a A- rating with the BBB that has been eroded down to the C+ you report. I personally saw the A- back then and have been urging victims to file complaints with the BBB to knock it down to an F=FAIL. It's working!
