- Mr.C replies to AnonYou are living proof that your mother gave birth to a master piece. I suggest that it is about time these so called TD trust employees start calling you. Then we'll see what song you'll see...
- Confirmed-scam| 1 replyOk, so I called the bank today and gave them the phone number (877-766-7696). The rep looked up the number and said that they have NO RECORD of that number in their directory, and to NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION to the caller. She was very concerned that this may be a scam.
So there you have it. The next time they called, I informed them that I spoke with the bank and that they are not affiliated with the caller in any way, and that I will be forwarding their number to the police and bank fraud department for further investigation.
END OF CALLS.- Caller: 877-766-7696
- More to add| 1 replyThose who are told that it is "TD VISA", and not "TD Canada Trust", BEWARE!
The phone caller identifies themselves as TD Canada Trust, NOT VISA. Then they turn their story around if you tell them you called the bank and was told everything is ok, by telling you they are VISA, not the bank. So I called VISA and they said everything is ok and the phone # is not associated with them whatsoever.
So if you ever get this call, HANG UP and call your local branch or visa as ASK THEM if there is something wrong. DO NOT provide any info to these people who may be scammers.
BE CAREFUL OF POSTERS HERE SAYING THE NUMBER IS LEGITIMATE. THEY ARE PROBABLY WORKING FOR THIS SCAM COMPANY. DON'T TRUST THEM, TRUST YOURSELF BY CALLING THE BANK AND/OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY DIRECTLY.- Caller: 877-766-7696
- gemstarservice.com| 1 replythe caller ID that shows up is in fact Canada Trust.... but the phone number left for you to call is NOT Canada trust... also the reference number that you are given should be seven digits for it to be Canada trust

- TD Trust Who??I don't have bills or credit... Why are you calling me?
- RobbyJune 3/15 call from this number - I do not answer any 800's or any number I do not know - no message left
- Ashley MacIntyre| 1 replyThis is a LEGIT collection number. TD has outsourced their unpaid collections to a collections company. Wise up. You missed paying your bill on time. They're trying to settle your account before you got to hardcore collections. Every employee within TD Canada Trust (the teller at your branch, people at EasyLine (which is just another call center) etc) aren't informed of this outsourcing done by head office so they're telling you it's a scam but they're wrong. Call them back and settle your account and the calls will stop. What kind of scam do you think they're running by telling you to pay your own credit card bill by whichever means you choose? They're not asking you for your credit card number or anything. The only information they ask you for is for verification that you are the correct person to speak to so they don't blab your details to someone who checked your messages or got the call by mistake. They already have this information on their screen they just need you to verify. Not every 1 800/1 877 number is a scam it just means it's toll free for you to call back. These people are just like you and me getting paid a wage to do a job so they can feed their families. There is no need to be rude, curse at them or defame their name on the internet.
- Caller: TD Canada Trust
- Call type: Debt collector
- Ashley replies to gemstarservice.comThe reference numbers ARE seven digits.
- Ashley replies to More to addThey are a call center paid by TD to collect unpaid debts. They only ask you to pay your bill. The branch isn't going to tell you if you're past due or your Visa has been frozen so you don't cause a scene in the branch. Think about it.
- Ashley replies to Confirmed-scamWow you wasted the police's time. And what came of it? They're still around because it is a LEGIT COLLECTIONS COMPANY hired by TD
- Ashley replies to MicheleThe people calling actually refer you to the # on the back of your card to verify...yeah sounds soooo fishy. NOT
- is it a scam??| 1 replyi got a call from this number and they asked for my full mailing or date of birth (you can get my date of birth from facebook and my address from 411.ca if you wanted).
and this is what bothers me about people going off saying that its a scam
they told me to pay MY visa card (not send them money) and they seem to know my balance???
how does that even make sense??
i think if you are getting a call it means you owe money, just pay
and yes i was behind on my payment and one thing i know about the branch is that they dont know [***], because i wanted to confirm and when i asked they said "no your okay", and when i check my online banking it said i was behind.- Caller: TD Canada Trust

- Ian replies to Ashley MacIntyreAshley, you are absolutely incorrect and are providing misleading information. You probably work for the scam artists.
Anyone who calls their bank branch on the phone, or visits the bank branch in person, and provides legitimate identification confirmation to branch personnel will be able to confirm ALL products and accounts in their name that they have with that bank. That includes chequing and savings accounts, credit cards and investments that they have with TD. Everything. It will also show that anything that is flagged as accounts that are in collections either in house or in third party collections. They can give you information on what's going on with your accounts and provide opportunities and methods to pay anything you may owe. If the account has gone to third party collections (a legitimate debt collection agency contracted by the bank/creditor to collected on money owed), you WILL have to pay the debt collector directly - but your creditor is perfectly aware of the fact that you owe them money in every way, shape and form. That information DOES NOT magically disappear when an account goes into either (in house or third party) collections. They flag any and all accounts with information on it's past activities, and a bank teller at a branch can see this, and so can a legitimate call centre person who works DIRECTLY for your creditor (in this case, calling the number on the back of your credit card). As soon as your account is pulled up on the screen in front of them - they can see ALL of the activities associated with your account. INCLUDING whether it's gone to collections - in house or third party. - Ian replies to is it a scam??Please refer to my answer to Ashley above. It clarifies some points on how accessing your accounts information at a branch will show whether there are any issues or not with ALL of your accounts associated with that particular bank. They may direct you to a better person to talk to ultimately regarding owed money on your credit card, but that doesn't mean the screen in front of them doesn't show there is a problem due to lack of information. EVERYTHING shows up associated with your name and social security number, from your assets to your debts with that creditor. They can't lie to you and pretend they don't know. If there's a problem and someone can't help you, they direct you to the best department in order to solve the issue.
You should have received communications in writing WAY BEFORE being contacted by phone. Both in house (the bank or creditor has their own collections department that deals with owed accounts) and a third party collection agency (a company contracted legitimately by the bank/creditor) have policies and procedures they must follow when contacting a person who owes them money (a debtor). The letters are clear and concise in the matter they are contacting you about. They include who they are, what you owe and how to pay and include telephone numbers and even and address of the company that is contacting you. When they contact you by phone, they have a script to follow that includes their real name, the name of their company, and the reason they are calling. They cannot leave messages with private account information, but they can absolutely leave a message with their name, asking for the debtor to call back and leave a telephone number at which to reach them. Commonly debt collectors say that a "business matter" needs attending to immediately on a voicemail message without revealing anything about who you owe and how much. It's to protect your privacy and that of the creditor, because they are not allowed to reveal that information to a third party. They can only discuss the matter directly with the debtor unless the debtor indicates that debt collection agent has their permission to discuss the matter with another person not named on the account. Legitimate debt collectors must conduct their business properly or lose their license. - Luc BernardI have been getting several calls in thepass yew days. Its an Automated recording.

- K| 1 replyStarted calling me hourly at 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM on a Saturday night. Because of COVID 19 I can’t call the bank to ask without being hung up on. They leave voicemails telling me to call back the number and it’s regarding my credit card with TD. When I google the number nothing comes up but when I google the address it is a collections agency. I do have a TD credit card but the monthly payments get paid on time. I called TD Visa and they could not find anything on my account that was wrong or anything being sent to collections. They noted all my monthly payments. They told me not to call the number back.
They haven’t called today but I did message the online Facebook system for TD and they said the number does indeed represent TD for collections. When I asked what the collection was for considering I only have one credit card with TD and the payments were made, they said they couldn’t access that information and I should contact Equifax to find out if I owe anything for collections. But I know I don’t so I’m confused.- Call type: Debt collector
