This may be a valid number for TD collections but that doesn't mean scammers aren't spoofing it.

I called back and it was TD Canada Trust, I confirmed and looked after my business with them. I also called number on back of my card and they verified that the number is correct for TD and it is a department with TD

TD does not recognise this number.  If you get a call do not give any information.  Hang Up and call TD directly sing the Toll Free number on your Access Card

You're asking someone who posted 12 years ago. They're never going to return to answer your question. That person was either a shill or simply someone who hadn't heard of phone number spoofing.

Actually your comment is not true. This is TD Canada Trust calling regarding past due amounts for credit cards, lines of credit and overdraft. Those who ignore these calls are risking being sent to collections. Get your facts straight before posting incorrect information.

They provide their first and last name. And if you call the number back it states TD. Too many people put false info in here. Yes there are scams out there but this isnt one of them

Just got a call from an Indian man at a home number that I’ve never even listed on my account. He asked me for security information to confirm my identity. He said he can’t tell me anything until I confirm my identity. I asked if he has a call-back number and he gave me this number. I’m glad I Googled and saw that he’s scamming everyone. He sounded Indian and it has a bad connection with lots of static, as if he was calling from overseas.

Ok here my out: They call themselves as account recovery department.  However that is not part of the TD Bank. This is a private company contracted by the TD Group. They however has no live access to your credit accounts. They way it works when a monthly payment was late two times in a row that account info get extracted and placed to a database where the Account Recovery  will have access to. Let's say you took care of the issues by calling TD directly.  Now here's the problem: TD does not update the Recovery Database on the fly and Reovery teams has no idea of current status. You'd think they'd call the TD Visa or Bank before they call you, they cannot for security reasons. TD will not provide live info to contractors. So they expect you to update them. Just take the call and go through the verification and tell them you have taken care of it. Bottom line is its NOT the bank.
If you still have doubts ask the Caller to use voice print to identify you..and there you go only the TD Group can use voice print to locate your account and no one else.

The number they are calling is a business number and we do not have any accounts with TD. I have answered the call twice and there is no response on the caller's end. They have called four times in the past two days.

Yeah, it is about as necessary as someone replying to a post made back in Feb. 2010 and expecting that person to respond. Some people just "hang out" here and do nothing but make troll posts without ever contributing anything worthwhile. Hope that helped clear things up!

Called TD with phone number and incident number, it is not valid, fraud department is investigating. They have called five times this week. Beware
