your right it does stay on your records, however it looks better that you had a debt that you paid rather than a debt that you won't pay. so go ahead don't pay your bills let us know how that works out for you.

they are debt collectors. they are provided your number by the people you owe money to. if you change your number they have ways of finding the new one. your best bet is just make arrangments with them

the only way they would've told your manager about your debt is if your manager lied and claimed to be you... if that's not the case then you should sue them

@Todd: Do you work for a debt collection firm? Your comments, some of which, are rude, elad me to believe that. Mt experience with collection agencies (thanks to my donket ex husband) has sucked  I WILL NEVER GO WITHOUT FOOD OR RISK BEING HOMELESS FOR A COLLECTION AGENCY. WHY ARE YOU JUDGING PEOPLE?

I have some expeiance in the field, that is why I have some knowlegde. Most of my comments are very matter of fact, the ones that might seem rude are directed to people that are ignorant. I'm trying to give serious heartfelt advice for the most part people that work in places like this are trying to get by just like you. It's not their fault you owe a bill, they don't want you to go hungry, and are willing to work with you to get a resolution.

That's convenient that you collect government wages which we pay for by our hard work and taxes and then you don't even pay your bills. You're the reason our economy is the way that it is. Good job, hope you're proud of yourself

I am the daughter of Viola McComas.  She is an elderly widow and has been getting bombarded with unsolicited phone calls that are affecting her health.  I called the number also used by appeles i.e. 800-825-4425 and told the woman who I was and to quit calling my mother.  She was nothing short of a [***] and said she wouldn't discuss anything with me and wouldn't stop calling my mother.  If this is a collection agency, they barked up the wrong tree.  My mother gets her mail every day and pays the bills that day.  It infuriates me that something can't be done with such debilitating, undeserved harrassment!

it's not harrassment if she owes the money. and the FDCPA prevents them from discussing this with you or anyone else
