Just received a hang up call from this number; no message voicemail message left. Others say this is a collection agency. Since I don't have a credit issue, I'll be blocking this number if they keep calling. Too many scammers to bother answering their calls.

They call my direct line at work every day.  It comes up on caller-ID as 'Toll-Free Call'  same recording.  Don't call them back because I have no debts.  Most likely someone gave out an incorrect phone number years earlier or company input it incorrectly.  These started about 2 months ago.  Had this happen at my home phone 20 or so years ago.  Someone kept calling about a 'business matter' for some guy named Steve.  Though I would be helpful and call them back and let them know this was a new phone number and there is no Steve at this phone number.  They said thanks for letting us know, then started calling back asking for Steve about a week later.  Best to just not engage and block the number if your phone allows.

Best to make them follow the law, and when they don't, sue them and make them pay you for the harassment.  Using the information I have posted on page 10 of this thread.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It just rings a few times and hang up on me. I only received two calls. But no one said a damn thing. As soon as a person asks to give information like SSI or address or anything else. I tell them to go to hell. You called me you and what you trying to do now. Still my identity. I am not nice to these type of calls.

They called my grandma about a debt I have no way of having. I’ve never taken out a loan and my only credit card is barely over 100 and is paid frequently. I don’t know what they want or why they’re calling me.

They are extortionists looking to scam money from you.  After reading both CWG40's and my post on page 10, use that information to do what I have detailed in my other post on this page.

This number calls at least 2 times a day. I can't even get a name or information on who this is calling or what it's about.when I answer no one says anything and hangs up or they don't  leave a voice mail.if it's true what I have read here on this site then these people better learn how to speak up and tell me who they are and what they want or quit calling my cell phone

This was a crank call. I answered, they hung up. I looked online, and found this site. I hate crank calls. I thought robo-dialers were illegal for companies to use. Either way, I have blocked this number.

Everybody "thinks" but no one takes the time to actually find out.  No, they are not illegal.

Why don’t you just block their number? That would be the end of the story since you don’t want to pay neither parties.

Why would you give that advice to someone who clearly posted here in 2008 (ten years ago) and will never see your very poor advice?
