- Jennifer| 2 repliesThis number is crap...this number called me as Potomac Edison. I don't even HAVE an electric bill in my name!!!
- Caller: Potomac Edison
- MartyRecorded message with fill in the blank( Penelec, Comcast,ect..) this one was Penelec so they say, only every got a call from the that was a live person, other than that it is by mail only
- Caller: UCB
- Rtucher replies to shannonI doubt that since my bills are up to date...and they are calling ppl w/o penelec company?
Yeah...I don't think so buddy. - kevin replies to SLRthat is just for general scams....it is legit-it is just that since all these power companies have rolled into one they have changed how they do business....my bill was technically past due-for the 25 dollars that they claimed...but it wasn't a disconnect threat or anything...I was just not too concerned about it since it was only 25 bucks...and -actually I later recognized the number from having talked to them recently....
- kevin| 1 replyI called monpower and the rep said that it probably is legit. They have just merged all these companies. They now have an automated system that calls out when your bill is past due. If you listen, it doesn't tell you that you have to pay by credit card. It also says that you can go to www.firstenergy.com and pay online for free, or that you can pay by credit card for a 3.95 fee (which the rep says was also a correct amount)....and the amount that had just come past due, she verified as 25.61-the exact amount that they had said. And they had my name-middle initial and all-.and my phone number which is not listed and is a mobile phone..and it had number recognition on my callback-automation-.had my name, the amount, and the right power company out of the bunch just from recognizing my phone #-(this was no live person, this was completely automated)....I am not saying 100% but I am 95% or better that it is legit as it would take quite a bit for them to come up with all of this and such a hugely sophisticated phone/computer system just for a scam on barely past due electric bills...
- Caller: monpower/firstenergy
- kevin replies to kevinoh- and mon power is my company....
- XxAll of these companies are part of First Energy Corp. They just want to know when you're paying your bill
- RonThey called me as well. I did have a bill due, but, I do not believe the number itself was from the Electric Company. I did not answer them. I did pay my electric company though which is First Energy (JCPL)
- ChuckGot a call from this number. They did know my name address etc for my power bill which was slightly overdue however it seems as if they were hunting for an account # and they offered to make the payment for a fee of $3.95. It may be an outsourced company for First Energy JCPL. The bill was small and overdue by only 3 days so I'd say it's a scam.
- RINGOESI just got off the phone with JCPL and they confirmed that 888-208-5272 is their automated payment reminder system.
- RaynaSeveral calls from this number. I never answer numbers I don't know. My electric bill is paid, so not sure why they'd call. I'd never pay over the phone for anything anyways...
- XxMy electric co is JCP&L owned by Ohio elect not penelec and if this was a legit call then why not leave a friggin' message. How many people do they expect to contact at 1:15 pm? Also, I'm not over due on any of my bills including the electric, Hope one of their moron phone jockeys reads this cause they're a**holes on a whale
- Melanie| 1 replyI called West Penn, our provider. She called the number and she said they are not associated with a first Energy Corp. in ANY way.
- JeremyCalled my number claiming to be Ohio Edison. Said I have an overdue bill. Not possible since I don't have power in my name. SCAM - BEWARE
- JoeThis number keeps calling my cell phone and identifies themselves as PennElec (not my electric company) and want to speak to Alan (not my name).
Where do they get their employees from?- Caller: PennElec
- Call type: Debt collector
- MartyRecorded message about calling Penelec but caller ID did not say Penelec or First energy, ect

- scamI checked my electric bill online. It does not show a past due balance on my Mon power acct.
- mlgreyI use penn power. why would the same number be used for so many different power companies. I understand they are affiliated some of them, but they have to have different numbers.this number is nowhere on my bill.I paid on time.
- Caller: pennpower
- Call type: Prank
