I just received a call from this number on my cell phone. I don't answer any calls that I don't recognize the number, this included. If they really are my electric company, they always leave a message. This one didn't.

POSTED RIGHT ON ELECTRIC COMPANY'S WEBSITE.... IT'S A SCAM PEOPLE!!!
Customers who are behind on their accounts receive written notices of a possible disconnection and how to prevent it. Our representatives will not call or email to demand immediate payment or threaten imminent shutoff.
Scammers often use Caller ID spoofing software to misrepresent the source of a phone call to further mislead and confuse their targets. Call-back numbers provided by these criminals often use greetings and hold messages that mimic legitimate businesses. If you have any doubts about the status of your electric service, call your utility company using the numbers on our website to ask about your account.
FirstEnergy employees do not contact customers to request sensitive information such as social security numbers or bank account information.
Do not allow anyone claiming to be a utility employee into your home unless you scheduled an appointment and the employee has provided proper identification. Our utility employees typically visit a home only in response to a service request or after providing prior notification.
FirstEnergy utility employees always carry photo identification, and many of our field employees wear uniforms and drive clearly marked company vehicles.
Our utilities offer a wide array of approved billing and payment options.  Only send your payments to your FirstEnergy operating company, and never use a payment account provided to you by an unknown individual.
Our alert services can help you keep track of the amount and timing of your bill, and our eBill payment option can help ensure your account is always paid on time.

I received a phone call on my landline and they left no message. Thus site and others have mixed info. I called JCP&L  (jersey central power and light). I called the number on my statement. One Rep to confirm my account was current and then called back another number on my statement for billing. They stated they have no record of calling nor is there any issue with my account. They said they send out disconnect notices first prior to ever calling plus they typically wait until the another billing cycle has been sent without any payment. We just had people here the week of Xmas, dressed very casual with photo I.d. Of some sort going door to door stating its Federal law and they can help save you money and said they were from the electric company...3 days and someone called the police and destined him one rude guy not dressed the part and they haven't been seen since.
'~~~just an FYI / beware before paying or giving them personal info~~~~

Got 2 calls this afternoon.  I answered the 2nd call and a recording came on asking for Seth somebody.  They identified themselves as Mon Power.  No threats.  I selected the option that said "No one by that name" (something like that) and I haven't heard from them since.
