I also received a letter from aldous and associates. I called gowireless and they said they couldnt find an outstanding bill but they are emailing the letter to the district manager to figure it out. I am waiting on that response. The man at aldous and associates told me someone from there had to email them so theyd stop trying to collect the bill. Gah what the heck. He also said if I wanted proof mailed to me it would cost TEN DOLLARS....haha what? So he said he will email me the proof for free.....these people are scum.

So glad I found this website. When I received a letter saying I owed Aldous & Associates $300 I was horrified and confused. It felt "shady" to me, but now that I've read this site and see how many other people are (sadly) experiencing the same thing I know for sure it's a scam. I'm not sending a darn thing!!! Thanks for looking out...Now I can do the same!

I've been on both sides of collection: being a collector and being collected. Aldous and Associates is not a scam company, and they do have contracts for cellphones and gym memberships. If they are contacting you, i would suggest you contact them immediately because collection companies have the ability to report on your credit any outstanding debt. GoWireless and Diamond Wireless ARE third party agents for major cellphone companies. Honestly, anytime you sign ANYTHING these days, it is almost always a contract and you are almost always responsible for it.

They called my house number and left their phone number for me to call them back. I did & asked them what it was all about. They refused to answer me & kept asking me for personal information. When I refused to give them any personal info over the phone they said that they already had all my personal info, & that I should just answer them. When I told them NO! they hung up on me! Totally a scam!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't you read where everyone is saying they DIDN'T sign a separate contract for GoWireless et al?  Bottom line - no proof of debt (no contract showing your signature) = no debt.  PLUS - Verizon also has told posters that they have NO outstanding debt.  Nice try, though.

I need to get this information out to everyone about a scam that is happening. The name of this scam artist is http://aldouslegal.com/.... This is not a legitimate business. Let me tell you why. My mother cancelled her Verizon account back in March. Everything was current and she actually over paid so they sent her a check back. On Monday 6/17/2013 she gets a phone call from these people they left a message stating they have a legal matter to discuss with her. She calls me and I tell her to ignore since she gets these strange calls all the time. On Wednesday 6/19/2013 she receives a letter stating she owes for an outstanding bill with Verizon and they were retained to collect this debt. She calls the number and all this guy "Jim" could say is give me your credit card and this matter will be solved. I thought now that is strange so I look it up and this was the website (looks legit right). So I'm looking around and find many websites stating this is a scam. So I call Verizon and they state they are aware of this happening and she owes nothing. Somehow they are getting information from cancelled accounts of Verizon and Diamond Wireless and claiming they are collecting for these companies for cancelled contracts. This is one of the websites I found that explains what is happening to other people

This is a legitamate business that specializes in debt collection. They mostly work with gyms and cell phone retailers. If you get a phone call it might be a mistake but you definitely want to figure it out because they do report your debt to credit.

Also read everything before you sign that is most likely what got you in trouble.

Also just so you know I work for aldous and a associates it has been in business for years now. The BBB gives this company a B+ rating.

THIS IS NOT A FAKE COMPANY

If you get a letter from go wireless or diamond wireless saying that you don't owe anything SEND IT IN!!!! You don't want a bookkeeping error on your credit report!!!

@ Collector if you work for this company and it is legit then may I make a suggestion let your boss' know either you are all scammers or someone is using your name to pull a scam. I can't see how the only person answers your 888 number is always Jeff or Jim. Why is the first thing that is asked is Credit Card and we will make this all go away. Maybe you are the one who is pulling this scam? I have posted all over Facebook and now more people are aware.

It may be "legitAmate" but it sure isn't "legitimate"!  Collecting on bogus debts sure isn't legitimate.  Nice try, shill.

Same thing happened to me.  The BBB should investigate this company and Diamond Wireless is a complete rip-off.  Don't be fooled by them!  Aldous and Associates are very rude people and when I called to complain they hung up on me and Chuck defended the staff that was rude.  There must be a partnership between Aldous and Associates and Diamond Wireless. DO NOT GO TO DIAMOND WIRELESS!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY AND PAY A LOT MORE MONEY THAN YOU THOUGHT.

    Army Girl,

Hats off to you for taking the time to expose these sleaze balls.  I just opened the exact same letter from them that you described.  I had settled my score with Verizon for a "mobile hot spot" they sold me that I didn't need.  I had purchased it from a Verizon kiosk at a Mall in So. California.  I never dealt with anyone but Verizon representatives. So to suddenly be told that I have an account with Diamod Wireless is a shock.

Thank you for the time you took.

    Respectfully

    Army Girl,
Received the same demand letter and 2 calls from this Aldous & Associates. Argued over the phone with them and told them that I filed complaints with the Utah BBB. Then called Verizon fraud department about the issue...(888) 483-7200. Verizon Fraud department took down the information and told me that these bozos likely got the information by breaking into the MyVerizon web site to collect the data. Verizon suspects a boiler room operation. Fraud department passed on the information to Verizon legal to pursue.
Next I filed a complaint against this Diamond Wireless entity with the BBB in Utah. You can get the BBB web address by looking up Diamond Wireless on your browser and will see the BBB complaints against Diamond Wireless.... There are countless recorded complaints... you should file one as well.
I then logged on again and filed a BBB complaint against Aldous & Associates.
If enough complaints are filed, I suspect the Attorney General will get involved in this scam.
Plan to write the Attorney General in Utah and Arizona concerning this.
I will pursue this through Verizon legal by giving them my filed complaint forms with the BBB as well as the letter I received.
You should do the same.... Call the Verizon fraud department and work with and through them.
    (888) 483-7200.

if you can prove they are bogus with real evidence your accounts are cancelled out. If you just call in stating you don't know who diamond wireless or go-wireless is then it wont be. you have to actually prove it isn't real.

No one EVER has to prove a debt is not owed. It is the collectors responsibility, by LAW, to prove that the debt is legitimate & the collector is legally entitled to collect it. That's called a complete & legitimate notice of validation. Delivered by mail. NOT by e-mail, fax. or a phone call. If you can't, or won't, follow the federal regulations regarding debt collection you're nothing but a second rate debt collection outfit who can't afford to buy the good paper. Look for a real job. You really suck at the one you've got!
