- amy| 1 replyI got a letter in the mail claiming I owed 450 for breaking a contract w/ verizon wireless. I actually still have verizon and never broke a contract. The gentleman on the phone said I increased my data plan and that was a "breach in contract"!! I said i disagreed and he told me he was reprting the debt and it would destry my credit score if I didnr pay now. I tried to argue and he was unreasonable, started yelling, and I hung up.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.
Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Has anyone here been sued by them? I think not. I don't see a post saying that! - J replies to collectorNo, THEY have to prove that it IS real.

- AntiSCAM| 2 repliesThis is currently the Verizon SCAM, still going on in 2018 from the same phone numbers 1-888-221-5155 and 801-272-0343 out of Utah. Kind of surprised they haven't changed their numbers after all these years. I imagine they hacked my customer info when Verizon was hacked in 2017. Similarly, I returned a product awhile back and Aldous and Associates (debt collectors, attorneys) claim I was in breach of contract. First time I answered the call and admitted to nothing, goodbye! Now I just screen the calls out. The products I returned are owned by Verizon, so any collection or breach would originate from Verizon, this was confirmed by corporate. My account is also confirmed clear from Verizon corporate, it was double and triple checked. In this situation if I was sent to collections, it would come from Verizon directly, not by the third party product names, whom DO NOT actually write any separate contracts! Anyways, I think I'm going to blacklist these numbers, they leave messages about once every 3-4 weeks in hopes that I'll pay up or damage my credit. The Better Business Bureau confirms the business is not BBB accredited. Worst kind of criminals these people, don't fall for their scam!

- Sleepless replies to AntiSCAM| 1 replyMay 2017 caller from ALDOUS tells me I owe $260.00 to A WIRELESS, my carrier is Verizon, for a contract signed in 2016. Replied no contract had been signed with above mentioned, did not owe $260.00 for a contract not signed by me, will report to federal agencies that you've committed fraud and harassment.
His response, "[***] Off", then hung up.
Checked my credit on Credit Karma.... Yep, It's now Jan. 2019, 2 years later, they did it, I have my 1st reported debt collection from ALDOUS and A WIRELESS in the amount of $260.00. Since the government is shut down the only course taken is disputing through Credit Karma. They have messed with my good credit.
How can they keep getting away with this for so long? Also, Verizon seems to go hand in hand all this. - post pending moderator approval
