This is currently the Verizon SCAM, still going on in 2018 from the same phone numbers 1-888-221-5155 and 801-272-0343 out of Utah. Kind of surprised they haven't changed their numbers after all these years. I imagine they hacked my customer info when Verizon was hacked in 2017. Similarly, I returned a product awhile back and Aldous and Associates (debt collectors, attorneys) claim I was in breach of contract. First time I answered the call and admitted to nothing, goodbye! Now I just screen the calls out. The products I returned are owned by Verizon, so any collection or breach would originate from Verizon, this was confirmed by corporate. My account is also confirmed clear from Verizon corporate, it was double and triple checked. In this situation if I was sent to collections, it would come from Verizon directly, not by the third party product names, whom DO NOT actually write any separate contracts! Anyways, I think I'm going to blacklist these numbers, they leave messages about once every 3-4 weeks in hopes that I'll pay up or damage my credit. The Better Business Bureau confirms the business is not BBB accredited. Worst kind of criminals these people, don't fall for their scam!

Calls a Canadian number, says to call their 888 number to contact them, and the 888 number does not work in Canada.  Message says it's in regards to debt collection.  WTF debt would I have in the US?  If your company is that stupid I don't want to deal with them. Bye!!

May 2017 caller from ALDOUS tells me I owe $260.00 to A WIRELESS, my carrier is Verizon, for a contract signed in 2016. Replied no contract had been signed with above mentioned, did not owe $260.00 for a contract not signed by me, will report to federal agencies that you've committed fraud and harassment.
His response, "[***] Off", then hung up.
Checked my credit on Credit Karma.... Yep, It's now Jan. 2019, 2 years later, they did it, I have my 1st reported debt collection from ALDOUS and A WIRELESS in the amount of $260.00. Since the government is shut down the only course taken is disputing through Credit Karma. They have messed with my good credit.

How can they keep getting away with this for so long?  Also, Verizon seems to go hand in hand all this.

Most likely your problem originated with Credit Karma as they have no security at all.  However, your dispute should be sent to the proper credit bureaus as required by law and not handled by some third rate website.  Those disputes should be sent certified, return receipt.  Also you should be aware of what this outfit is required to do now.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

    Using this information:

    Aldous and Associates, PLLC
    P.O. Box 171374
    Holladay, UT 84117-1374

You should be doing the following as well:

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt) (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/
    http://www.consumeradvocates.org/find-an-atto ... tates_value=All

You would be able to sue them for both FDCPA violations and FCRA violations as well.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
