I have Verizon phone service but no extras!

    How do I stop this?

    In my view:
    1 - My Verizon
    2 - Accounts And Services
    3 - Voice Mail Settings
4 - final step - Voice Mail Screening OFF

This is actually the Voice Mail number for Verizon Wireless. If you call someone with Verizon voice mail and they return your call using the Verizon call back option, that call shows a Caller ID of 888-234-6786 (probably not the best option for people who do not like to receive calls from numbers they do not recognize.)

If someone has "programmed" their phone incorrectly (not uncommon among the "Smart Phones are Magic" crowd) it could trigger multiple calls from this number.

It is always the possibility that one or more of the scammers is faking this number on caller ID.

It is always possible that a prankster is faking this number on caller ID number.

It is also possible that people with a grudge against Verizon are posting bogus complaints here.

It must be a scam. I have never had Verizon service and have had this number for years. No message was left.

Called no message.  Folks need to understand that scammers can make any number show up - a bank, a credit card, the post office, or verizon VM.  If it is a well known service number you can be sure scammers will spoof it to make you think it is something else.  So I have no doubt that a) this is a Verizon VM number, and b) scammers are spoofing it to make calls.

My previous above message should clarify that it was the same number calling me, but after research I found that it was NOT Ron Ferrara at 1214 Pickering Lane in Chester Springs. Not sure who tried to tie his name to this chain of phone harassments. He is a innocent victim.

This is the number you call to get Verizon Voice Mail.
If you use Verizon to handle your phone line(s), it means that you probably have voice mail waiting.
If so, enter your ten digit phone number, followed by your passcode to retrieve your message(s).
If you don't use Verizon, than the number has been "spoofed" and you should block it, if you can!

Everyone needs to understand that the number you see on your Caller ID means nothing.  Scammers can make the caller ID show any number they want.  All the better to get you to answer.  Spoofing caller ID is a well known hack.  So don't get all frustrated thinking these calls all come from Verizon; some may be legit,  some are fake.  If it is Verizon Customer service they will leave a message.  No message generally means a fake.

call came in at 9:50 PM tonight on my home phone which is not Verizon (if this is Verizon calling as reported here which I doubt). Caller id: "800 Service". I was on the line when they called so no message. I think someone has spoofed the number dor some scam.
