Did you report the fraudulent charges to your financial institution? You should also close the account so further charges aren't made by this scammer.

    Not Buying It
Have received several calls like this during the past few days, with a automated system indicates fraudulent purchases on my Amazon account, press one to speak to an representative. When you do, some lady in a boiler room has lots of questions, but no answers. They've called twice a day for the last week, each time from a different number. This is the first time they've used the AMAZON ID though.

Got a call from this number which I did not answer, but there was the last half of an automated announcement on my voice mail. All I heard was "Press 1 to be connected to a representative". Obviously after reading the other comments it was a spoofed Amazon call by scam artists. I never bought anything from Amazon (I know, I'm one of the .001%) so I would have immediately known it was a scam anyway.

888-280-4331 is the Amazon customer service number but scammers can call from a different number and make the Amazon name and number show up on your caller ID.  In my case the caller said there was suspicious activity on my account--supposedly someone trying to buy an iPhone for $749--and he wanted me to open TeamViewer and then give him control over my computer. I'm gullible but not THAT gullible.

I also received a call  from this number but picked up, muted the call and listened. Sure enough, something about a $799 charge, etc, etc.  I normally don't pick up but since it did say Amazon, who doesn't call, wanted to see what it was all about, though I knew it was a spoofed call. I checked my credit cards anyway, but any transactions made online are set up for text and email  notification  unless I am swiping the cards. Plus Amazon did text the other day when my package was delivered. However, the sad part is the number on caller id is the Amazon customer service number. I have it listed in contacts on my cell phone and have called on rare occasions. It is just sickening that there is so much fraud and deception out there. Please people, be very vigilant when receiving calls from supposedly true companies.

I received a call from these scum buzzards on 12-5-20 @ 4:53pm on my home phone. I did not answer it and let my answering machine get it instead. It was a recorded message claiming to be amazon letting me know about a fraudulant charge of $749 for an Apple Iphone XR charged to my Amazon account. I checked my account on Amazon.com and there was such charge! So I spoke with my son about it and he said the Iphone XR was a phone of about 3 generations ago and nobody in their right mind would want to buy that one anyway now! He has an Iphone 11 and has always been a nut about Apple products. So, all in all, don't even answer a call from 888-280-4331! Disregard it! It's a scam!

    Me-Myself-I
Received recorded call from this number claiming it was from the Amazon Fraud Dept about a purchase of a $799 iPhone made to my account.  It is a SCAM.   I hung up, went online and checked my Amazon account.  No sign of any purchase that I did not make.    All was well with my Amazon account.

On 2020/12/11, I got a robo call detailing an unauthorized purchase of an apple I-Phone. Caller ID read: AMAZON 888-280-4331. It was obvious to me that it's just some scam to steal my Amazon account. When the message claims that I need to verify my Amazon account number, I was sure of it. Apparently their calling machine detected no response, and hung up. I guess it didn't like talking to my answering machine.

The caller left a message claiming they were from Amazon, but the long number that starts with a "V" above the phone number in the CID is not something associated with Amazon (long "V" number = scammer).  I didn't answer this call, and NEVER answer calls unless I'm 100% sure the caller/phone number is familiar and safe.

From reading other posts about this scam in multiple threads they either ask for your credit card number to process the "credit" or it seems that they now want access to your computer.  This seems like a new one but if you did give them access to your account and had a credit card on file then they would be able to but gift cards or anything else they wanted until you were notified by the bank.

Somebody from this number called at 5:57am PST.  Didn't answer and it is now blocked.  Must be an overseas call as somebody doesn't know what time zone they are calling.
