- Joni| 2 repliesI got the same call at 10:15 this morning that everyone else is talking about. Showed up as Amazon on my cell phone. I answered and got the message about my account and a $700 something charge for an iphone. I was hoping to be able to press something to be taken off of call list, but no, so I hung up. It's now blocked from my phone as SPAM.

That's hilarious! You really think that works?Quote:I was hoping to be able to press something to be taken off of call list, - Tygerkat replies to JoniScammers don't give an option to be taken off their call list because they don't care if you don't want to be called.

- Steven and Carol CrooksIn hooking up a smart TV I was encountered difficulty opening the Amazon "channel" and encountered a phone number to call for Amazon service. On dialing that number I was connected with a fellow with an "Indian" accent who, over the course of the conversation, inviegled me to allow him to control my computer. He then told me my computer was insecure and had a problem that the Cisco software he was selling would clear it up....for life. And all I had to do was send him a check for $1500! I tentatively agreed but on rethinking and investigating found that I was most likely being scammed so did not send a check after speaking with an Amazon rep who assured me that I had not been speaking with any representative of Amazon. Tech Philosophers LLC of Marysville, WA were not their representatives by any means. How they managed to intercede on my call to Amazon is a mystery. Looking a bit further I found the registered agent for Tech Philosophers is Kuldeep Ahlawat which name is about as common as Willie Smith in the Indian populace.
The whole thing was clothed in utmost sincerity and some indignation that I should think I was being scammed.- Caller: "Scott Miller" aka Kuldeep Ahlawat

- Fed UpRoboc call from this number (I did not pick up) wherein they left a message (cut off at the beginning) "...$749 is being ordered from your Amazon account. To cancel your order, or to connect with one of our customer support representatives, press 1 now." This IS the Amazon support number, but the call is NOT legit - it's spoofed. I checked my Amazon account and I have no $749 order.
