They have my full SSN and other information. I read on the FBI website that they may have the information from an online credit card application.
I have asked and asked them to send something via mail. They have yet to do so. They call my former employer, my family, my ex-husband. It's very frustrating. All I can do is block them.

I just got the same call. The lady said "so your not going to pay?" No I'm not. Didn't do this! If I had I would've paid it back. It's a scam. They call me or my husband every year about the same crap!!!

They call family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.

If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS.  Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):
    http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

There are literally hundreds of these scam companies out there, and apparently nothing legally can be done about them.  I just started getting calls from this number 888-286-5462.  The number comes up on caller ID as a local number (spoof).  Get them 3 times a day since May 27.  I block the number, but they still get through to leave voicemail.  I think the federal, state, and local governments can't do anything because these companies move around and change numbers so much.

    crock of sh*t
This place is a scam. They are a 3rd party debt collector claiming to be a law firm litigation place, they are calling on so called loans that are out of statue of limitations. They do not have surety bonds to collect on loans they make up names of loan places that I have never heard of and the idiot actually admitted to robo calling when I told him to quit harassing my family. Do not give them a dime of your money they are liars and scam artist. They are out of Illinois and full of themselves

I checked on the BBB site because I keep getting these calls too. No Idea who or why they are calling me. But I copied the below from the BBB site.

What to Do if You Receive a Harassing Call From a Debt Collector:

The best protection against debt collection scams is simply knowing your rights. Here’s a quick overview.

Ask the debt collector to provide official “validation notice” of the debt. Debt collectors are required by law to provide the information in writing. The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor and a statement of your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If the self-proclaimed collector won’t provide the information, hang up.
If you think that a caller may be a fake, ask for his name, company, street address, and telephone number.  Then, confirm that the collection agency is real.
Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have verified the call.
Check your credit report for by going to annualcreditreport.com or calling (877) 322-8228. This will help you determine if you have outstanding debts or if there has been suspicious activity under your name.
If the scammer has a great deal of personal information about you, be safe and place a fraud alert on your credit report.
File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission if the caller uses threats. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act prohibits debt collections from being abusive, unfair or deceptive.

I keep getting phone calls from idiots. Spoke to some guy yesterday who was so obviously reading from a script it was ridiculous. I kept trying to ask him questions and he just kept saying if u stop interrupting me - I will get to that. First he had to make sure he read the script with all the threatening information and that I was on the court docate...when he was finally finished I said what co are u calling in regards to this supposed loan that was not paid. He said GTI holdings. Well then I just ripped into him and said first of all GTI holdings is no longer in business not are they involved in any debt collections. I told him to go on their bbb website and check it out. I also told him he would see the name of GTI attorney who I have been in contact with. These people are scammers and have no right to collect on something that is not being collected!!! I told him was he was doing was fraudulent and that I was going to report him to GTI attorney and he would be the one on the court docate - answering for what he is doing wrong. Then I just hung up the phone.
