In any event, contact your local Attorney General.  If they continue to bother you make a complaint to police about extortion attempts.

This is the thing, the reason why they never say exactly where they are calling from is because once they identify themselves, they cant call you back that day or the next. They leave vague messages on purpose to get you to call back. The other reason why they are not specific is that this might be old or phantom debt purchased for pennies on the dollar that they hope to collect anything on. Once you pay something, the collection period starts over.

Never pay without getting written documentation.

Well that's funny.. Because they told me the same thing. I was very concerned and the man told me he would email me the suit and I have not received that. I told him it had to be fradulant and he said no problem. Make a police report about identity theft and they will drop the suit. I asked him for a fax number or an email where I could send the report to them and he said to call him back at 888-286-5462 and he would go over that with me then. I even got a case number.....
