Yes!  The number is now 888-408-6759!  This is totally a scam!  Not only did the girl on the other end sound verrrrrrry unenthusiastic and as if she just got out of bed, but she also yelled at me when I said my boss, the president, does not take these kind of calls!  She said "THIS IS A FEDERAL CALL AND YOU BETTER LET ME SPEAK TO HIM NOW!!!!!"  uhhhhh.... let me think for .5 seconds.... HELL NO!!!!  Rediculous!  Beware!

Yeah, definately a scam.  I run a computer repair shop in Indiana and said i could be one of the 4 companies listed in the area. They definitely have a Scam artist website (no real information).  They needed to have someone listed within 48 hours or they would get someone else.  I may have some fun with them and see how long they are willing to extend this 48 hour limit.  I have until Saturday lol.

Will get back to them on that. lol

    VIDEOGUY
I have a small video post-production company in L.A. county.  Got a call today (12-7-11) from FPA GUIDE at 888-408-6759. Got Mark down to $450 for local buy-in price for CA location. We do music video montages, film special events, transfer old home movies to DVD's etc. I formally worked in Law Enforcement Investigations 20 years so I know about cross gvt contracts and what FPA guide was about. I would not go as far to say they were a scam because people now a days are not trusting and if they can't feel, smell, taste, and touch it then they jump on the Scam train.  By the way, I also served as a District Attorney for one year in Pomona Superior Court (Juvenile Cases) prior to going private counsel for Corporate.
This company from my brief research is legitimate, however you get what you pay for and sometimes the buyer expectations are more grandiose than what is actually being offered.  It's very wise to be cautious, to be on guard about Scams, but small business people might be blinded by the word "FEDERAL" and have bigger thoughts of sales than what the Guide can produce.  The FPA Guide is just a YelloowBook source for GVT employees. My company has done Funeral Video's for the Pentagon, D.C. without buying into the Guide.  I'm sure that you stand SOME TYPE OF EXPOSURE by buying into the FPA Guide.  1st try to figure out if your company services would be the type that GVT & subcontractors need,  If so, try it but dont pay more than $450 max.  It's just a tool in your business marketing plan and may or may not be all that beneficial.  OIbviously if you are a contractor this is a must buy.  If your a 99cent store, I don't think you would get the benefit of your bargain. Just think it through and keep a clear head on don't listen to all the hype thats on the net.

Good luck, and by the way, I didn't buy the Guide.  It would not have helped my business that much. I'm sticking with YellowBook where 95% of the customers are.

Received phone call today - given 72 hrs to sign up.  Went to website - still doesn't sound KOSHER.  I went to BBB website the rating is a B- which is terrible.  The saying going "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!"

I just got a call from a SCOTT SANDERS, from a 971-217-9516, local phone number in Oregon. He told me about the guide and that a Classification Specialist would call me tomorrow. He asked lots of questions, like number of employees, web site, fax number etc. When I asked him for references he stated he would fax them to me. NONE YET!!. I also was told that the specialist would need to talk to all the decision makers on the call, and additionally he stated many times through the call that we would have to be able to take electronic payments or credit cards. That was interesting, and suspicious.
After looking on the web and at this site, I will not be giving them any money!!. additionally when you call back the phone number above it states all circuits are busy?!.. I can not do business with my clients this way and nor should any business owner.
Stay away from these tactics and this company!!!,

Just checked FPA on BBB, they have an F rating at this point. Spoke to a Russ Collier, said the company was bought by GCO "Government Contracting Office"because company was run badly. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, most likely is is a DUCK!
